Let me elaborate ⤵️
To start with, they offer different services that bring different solutions.
What are these different services? I will point them out. (insert the serious face here) 👩💼
A social media manager:
‣ Concentrates more on the usage of social media profiles.
‣ Helps businesses connect with their audience.
‣ Creates a community.
‣ Builds brand recognition.
‣ Builds and/or increases trust and reliability.
A social media marketer:
‣ Concentrates more and has as a priority to create and implement strategies.
‣ Uses these strategies to generate leads for businesses through their social media accounts.
To conclude, it should not be a condition that a social media manager must definitely generate leads for a business; they have other responsibilities.
Still, of course, if a social media manager can do both, then it's perfect; just don't leave them the burden of a job that should be done by someone else.
