The Ghegs, the Giants Highlanders of Northern Albania 🇦🇱

〰️ The Albanian ethnic features had such distinctive characteristics that led the American anthropologist Carleton S. C**n to spend nearly a year traveling through the northern regions of Albania. On this journey, he was accompanied by Stavri Frashëri, an Albanian man whom he had hired as his assistant.

〰️ During the years 1929–1930, C**n conducted an anthropometric study on more than 1,000 Albanians from ten northern areas, measuring the size and shape of their bodies. At the same time, using his camera, he documented facial features, hair, and profiles.

〰️ This study was completed in 1946–1947 and resulted in the publication of his book The Mountain of Giants: A Racial and Cultural Study of the Highland Tribes of Northern Albania, Cambridge, 1950.
