Tirana Film Institute is an Albanian creative industry whose main focus is based on promoting European creative industry products in Albania and cooperate with European organizations in order to share common audiovisual products such as feature and short fictions, animations, documentaries, experimental, video art and student film in various forms. Tirana Film Institute carries out its activities

in organizing artistic, cultural and cinematographic film weeks, national and international festivals. TFI is also engaged at all times with film and audiovisual production, design of publicity campaigns, various marketing actitvities, promotion and film distribution through various shows, screenings and publications. The rich experience that the staff of TFI disposes allows successfully to organize Tirana International Film Festival in its 15th edition. TFI launched on 2015 a new international film festival as DocuTIFF based on the documentary feature, mid-length and short. TIFF on Tour act as ambassador for the submitted films and will travel with a selection to other Albanian cities during the year. TIFF will also propose special screenings to other regional festivals in accordance to a specific subject or theme. TFI has started a new successful experience as film distributor getting also support from Media program of Creative Europe. By combining and exploring new ways of cinematographic work distribution i.e engaging the audience on public debates by screening in various cinema and open air venues including schools and youth centers. The organisation implements from 3 years by the the CreativeMornings which are meeting that targets various youth debating on creative industry and film quality and distribution in Albania opening a platform to share with regional and international filmmakers.

We’re very happy for our dear friend, collaborator and colleague Eduardo M Escribano Solera, who has finally been recognized as a new The Academy member, joining the Shorts Branch.
This is the culmination of a long and selfless work, dedicated as rarely to the discovery and promotion of emerging filmmakers from countries with low film production and no support for the distribution of their films.
Edoardo is the founder and director of MAILUKI FILMS, S.L., one of the earliest and most loyal collaborators of the Tirana International Film Festival and for the last 4 years our official partner of Screenplay ContesTIFF.

A e dije që TIFF ka një konkurim të dedikuar për skenarët e filmave? Quhet Screenplay ContesTIFF dhe aplikimet janë të HAPURA! (Jo dhe për shumë! - Afati i fundit: 21 Maj 2025)

Kjo garë fton autorë shqiptarë dhe nga mbarë bota të dorëzojnë skenarë origjinalë për filma të shkurtër live-action ose të animuar (maksimumi 20 faqe & çdo zhanër), përmes platformës FilmFreeway.
ContesTIFF nuk vlerëson vetëm skenarin më të mirë të shkruar, por kërkon histori me potencial për t’u prodhuar dhe për t’u distribuar ndërkombëtarisht, në bashkëpunim me kompanitë tona partnere.
Në edicionin e kaluar (2024) morëm 72 aplikime nga e gjithë bota, ku 9 prej tyre ishin nga autorë shqiptarë.

The call for entries for the 23rd edition of Tirana International Film Festival 2025 is open!

Tirana International Film Festival is accredited as a qualifying festival from the AMPAS - Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the European Film Academy to be nominated for the Best Short Film, which will be eligible for the Oscar® Awards 2026 and the Best European Short Film for the European Film Awards 2025.
The officially selected Student films at TIFF are eligible to compete and apply for the Student Academy Awards® (SAA).

Festival accepts submissions in all running times, genres, topics, style and production technologies and in the following categories: Fiction/Live Action, Animation, Documentary, Experimental and Video Art.

Films in competition must have been completed after January 2024. All films in competition must be an Albanian premiere. Entries must be submitted by May 21, 2025.
You may submit your films through our online platform: FilmFreeway. TIFF offers exclusive discounted pricing for FilmFreeway Gold members.

This call is open also for the 4th Screenplay ContesTIFF 2025, that consists in the application of original live-action and animated short film scripts or other short form scripts of all genres (max. 20 pages) through the FilmFreeway online platform.

We can’t wait to see what you’ve been working on, and we hope to see you at this edition’s festival!

We’re so happy that On the Way (Rrugës) by Samir Karahoda, our winner as Best European Short Film awarded in the last 22nd edition of Tirana International Film Festival 2024 has been shortlisted among other 3 short films for a nomination in the category of European Short Film at European Film Awards Lucerne 2024.
