👉 Today we present to Calyptocephalella cf. canquelli, MPM-PV 20025.

🤓 Here, we observed the frontopariental (dorsal and ventral view) and maxillae fragments (external and internal view). Scale= 5 mm. Purple surface indicates scars left by the scamosal´s tongue-like process.

Hoy presentamos a Ari Iglesias, Editor de área (Paleobotánica) de PEAPA 🥳 🥳

🤓 Ari es Doctor en Ciencias Naturales por la UNLP y es Investigador Independiente del CONICET. Actualmente trabaja en San Carlos de Bariloche, provincia de Río Negro, Patagonia, Argentina.

🌿 Su investigación se centra en el estudio de plantas fósiles de los períodos Cretácico-Cenozoico de la Patagonia y la Antártida, con el objetivo de reconstruir la transformación de las comunidades vegetales y los ambientes de estas regiones durante los últimos 120 millones de años.

🌲 Los temas cubiertos incluyen la evolución y radiación de grupos de plantas, reconstrucción paleoambiental, estimaciones paleoclimáticas y reconstrucciones biogeográficas basadas en fósiles de helechos, coníferas y plantas con flores, entre otros.

🎉Today we introduce Ari Iglesias, Area Editor!!🎉

🤓 Ari has a PhD in Natural Sciences from UNLP and he’s an Independet Researcher at CONICET. He’s currently working in San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro province, Patagonia, Argentina.

🌿 His research focuses on the study of fossil plants from the Cretaceous-Cenozoic periods of Patagonia and Antarctica, with the aim of reconstructing the transformation of plant communities and environments in these regions over the last 120 million years.

🌲 Topics covered include the evolution and radiation of plant groups, paleoenvironmental reconstruction, paleoclimatic estimates, and biogeographic reconstructions based on fossils of ferns, conifers, and flowering plants, among others.

🐊 Estudia cocodrilos notosuquios del Cretácico de la provincia de Río Negro. Participa en campañas de prospección y extracción de fósiles, y se especializa en el análisis morfológico de esqueletos, así como en estudios filogenéticos y paleobiológicos.

🦎Su trabajo busca comprender mejor la biología de los notosuquios, su evolución y el ecosistema que habitaron hace más de 90 millones de años.

😎 Today we introduce María Lucila Fernández Dumont, part of the Production Team!!

👩🎓 Lucila is a Biologist (Paleontology orientation) and has a PhD in Natural Sciences, both at UNLP.

🐊 She studies Cretaceous Notosuchian crocodiles from the Río Negro province. She participates in prospecting and fossil extraction campaigns, and specializes in the morphological analysis of skeletons, as well as phylogenetic and paleobiological studies.

🦎Her work seeks to better understand the biology of notosuchians, their evolution, and the ecosystem they inhabited more than 90 million years ago.

😎Hoy presentamos a Federico Damián Seoane, parte del Equipo Editorial de Producción!!

🎓Federico se graduó como paleontólogo en la UBA y obtuvo su doctorado en la misma institución. Actualmente, es investigador asistente del CONICET.

🖥️ Desarrolló su tesis doctoral sobre el estudio sistemático, filogenético y paleobiogeográfico de Hegetotheriidae, un clado de pequeños notoungulados tipothéridos que existieron desde finales del Oligoceno hasta el Pleistoceno en Sudamérica. Actualmente, ha ampliado su ámbito de estudio para incluir a los tipothéridos, un grupo que incluye hegetotheriidae, interatheriidae, mesotheriidae y otros grupos cuya monofilia es cuestionable.

🔎 Su objetivo a largo plazo es realizar una filogenia de todos los notoungulados tipothéridos, con una buena representación del postcráneo, y evaluar su historia evolutiva y paleobiogeográfica.

😎 Today we introduce Federico Damián Seoane, part of the Production Team!!

🎓 Federico graduated as a Paleontologist at UBA and got his PhD in the same institution. Nowadays, he’s an Assistant Researcher at CONICET.

🖥️ He developed his doctoral thesis on the systematic, phylogenetic, and paleobiogeographical study of Hegetotheriidae, a clade of small typotheriid notoungulates that existed from the late Oligocene to the Pleistocene in South America. Currently, he has expanded his scope of study to include typotheriids, a group that includes hegetotheriids, interatheriids, mesotheriids, and other groups whose monophyly is questionable.

🔎 His long-term goal is to perform a phylogeny of all typotheriid notoungulates, with a good representation of the postcranium, and to assess their evolutionary and paleobiogeographical history.

😎Hoy presentamos a Emilia Sferco, parte del Cuerpo Editorial Científico!!

🎓Emilia es licenciada en Biología (orientación Paleontología) por la UNLP y doctora en Ciencias Biológicas por la UBA. Actualmente es Asistente de Investigación (CONICET) y Profesora Adjunta de la carrera de Biología de la UNC.

🐠 En su tesis doctoral estudió peces teleósteos de agua dulce del Jurásico Tardío de Chubut, Argentina, centrándose en su taxonomía, relaciones filogenéticas y biogeográficas.

🐟 Su línea de investigación se basa en el estudio de la taxonomía, las relaciones filogenéticas y biogeográficas de diferentes grupos de teleósteos, con énfasis en los euteleósteos del Cenozoico continental. Su investigación busca estudiar la evolución de los diversos grupos que hoy conforman la ictiofauna de agua dulce del sur de Sudamérica.

😎 Today we introduce Emilia Sferco, part of the Scientific Board!!

🎓 Emilia holds a degree in Biology (orientation Paleontology) from the UNLP and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the UBA. She is currently a Research Assistant (CONICET) and Adjunct Professor in the Biology program at the UNC.

🐠 In her doctoral thesis, she studied freshwater teleost fishes from the Late Jurassic of Chubut , Argentina, focusing on their taxonomy, phylogenetic and biogeographic relationships.

🐟 Her line of research is based on the study of the taxonomy, phylogenetic, and biogeographic relationships of different groups of teleosts, with an emphasis on continental Cenozoic euteleosts. Her investigation aims to study the evolution of the various groups that today conform the freshwater ichthyofauna of southern South America.

🎓Sonia es geóloga egresada de la Universidad Nacional de San Luis y doctora en Ciencias Geológicas por la misma institución. Actualmente es estudiante postdoctoral en el grupo de Paleopalinología y Paleoecología Vegetal del Instituto IANIGLA de Mendoza.

🖥️ Se especializa en palinología paleozoica, con especial atención a los quitinozoos. Su investigación explora su taxonomía, bioestratigrafía, contexto paleoambiental y patrones paleobiogeográficos.

🔍 A través del estudio de este enigmático grupo de microfósiles, pretende abordar importantes cuestiones geológicas y contribuir a una comprensión más profunda de la historia evolutiva de la Tierra.

🎓 Sonia is a geologist with a degree from the National University of San Luis and a PhD in Geological Sciences from the same institution. She’s currently a postdoctoral student in the Paleopalynology and Plant Paleoecology group at the IANIGLA Institute in Mendoza.

🖥️ She’s specializing in Palaeozoic palynology, with a particular focus on chitinozoans. Her research explores their taxonomy, biostratigraphy, palaeoenvironmental context, and palaeobiogeographic patterns.

🔍 Through the study of this enigmatic group of microfossils, she aims to address major geological questions and contribute to a deeper understanding of Earth’s evolutionary history.
