[STANDINGS] RIJEKA ARE CHAMPIONS!

• After a heartbreaking end to the season, the Riječani won their second HNL trophy and now aim to complete their trophy cabinet with the HNK next Thursday against Slaven.
• Varaždin managed to hold on to fourth place, even though they and Slaven lost, as Istra couldn’t hold off Osijek and only drew with them. If the Farmaceuti don’t win, Varaždin will play in Europe next season.

[STANDINGS] Just like the previous post, fourth place is also at stake tomorrow.

Three clubs are competing for the final (potentially available if Slaven doesn’t win the Croatian Cup) spot in the Conference League as the fourth-best team of the season. These are their best chances to achieve this.

Varaždin has by far the best opportunity, as the Bumbari currently lie fourth with 49 points, and they could seal it if:
• Varaždin wins, securing their spot; or if they draw or lose, Slaven must also draw or lose their match.
The Farmaceuti are next in the standings with 48 points:
• If Slaven wins, Varaždin must draw or lose their game.
Not far behind, with 47 points, Istra needs these results:
• If Istra wins, Varaždin must lose, and Slaven must draw or lose for the Zeleno-Žuti to take fourth place.

In any head-to-head scenarios, Varaždin wins both duels, so in the event of a points tie with the Bumbari, they will prevail in the standings. Varaždin will play against Dinamo, while Slaven faces Rijeka, both in away games. Istra, on the other hand, travels to Osijek in what I think is the “easiest” game of the three.
Remember that a broadcast will be streamed with live commentary tomorrow!

[STANDINGS] These are all the possibilities for the top three teams to become champions!

We will start with the club leading the race, Rijeka! The Riječani have to follow one of these two alternatives to be crowned for the second time:
• If Rijeka wins, they will be champions even if Dinamo also wins, since the head-to-head record favors Rijeka.
• If Rijeka draws, they need Dinamo to draw as well and Hajduk to draw or lose.
Dinamo also has 62 points, like Rijeka, but they are at a disadvantage in head-to-head matchups. In the event of a three-way tie, they would finish third. This is their only chance to win:
• If Dinamo wins, Rijeka must draw or lose.
Hajduk has 60 points, and they will become champions in half of the head-to-head scenarios, but the two-point difference hinders them. These are their chances:
• If Hajduk wins, both Rijeka and Dinamo must draw. Alternatively, Dinamo must draw and Rijeka must lose.

Looking at all three games, Dinamo and Rijeka play at home against Varaždin and Slaven, respectively, while Hajduk plays the Dalmatinski Derbi against Šibenik at Šubićevac. A priori, it appears that Hajduk has the easier opponent, as the Narančasti are already relegated, while the leaders face two teams fighting for fourth place and a possible Conference League spot.

[FIXTURE] Are you ready for the end?

• With an incredible season on the verge of ending, four games will be played on Sunday to decide the champion and fourth place.
• First off, Gorica welcomes Lokomotiva on Saturday to determine who finishes ninth. It has been a struggling tournament for both clubs, which were fortunate enough to escape Šibenik’s threat. Nevertheless, they can’t be satisfied with merely surviving; a change must come quickly this time, or relegation could become a reality next season.
• The last time I remember something like this was in the final round of the 2019/20 season, when Lokomotiva, Rijeka, and Osijek fought for second place (which granted Champions League qualification that year), and the Lokosi came out ahead of the other two. Now, with six (SIX) teams fighting for something, all matches need to be played simultaneously for competitive reasons. The HNS needed to secure a fourth VAR for the Osijek vs. Istra match, and they found one in Hungary. This might become the greatest day in the history of the Croatian football league.

[STANDINGS] Hajduk seized the opportunity and remains in the race, while Šibenik is officially relegated.

• Dinamo drew with Lokomotiva in another edition of the Zagrebački Derbi. While they thought everything was settled and Rijeka would claim their second championship, Hajduk emerged unexpectedly to win the Jadranski Derbi, showing up at the final possible moment. This sets up a thrilling Round 36, where this trio will decide the champion.
• Another dramatic conclusion will determine the fourth and potentially final place for the Conference League! Varaždin remains in the lead, while Slaven and Istra are one and two points behind the Bumbari, respectively.
• In the HNL, when two or more teams finish with the same points, a head-to-head standing is used. Throughout the week, we will show you what each team needs to achieve their goals! So, stay in touch with us!
• Round 36 isn’t scheduled yet, but we expect four games to be played simultaneously, while Gorica and Lokomotiva will likely start a day before or after the decisive matches.

[REVIEW] ANOTHER SHOCK IN SPLIT! Hajduk defeats Rijeka, and the championship will be decided in the final round.

• Gattuso changed the lineup, shook the foundations of his ideas, and managed to conquer a lackluster Rijeka that couldn’t do anything to defeat their derby rival.
• Marko Livaja converted a penalty into a goal at the start of the match and calmly controlled the game, but Duje Čop scored the equalizer in the second half, only for Hajduk to take the lead again after Trajkovski’s goal following good team play.
• This was Bili’s first win after six winless matches! It’s incredible to see them in such low form after an incredible run, but they still have hope! Rijeka wasted their first match point for the silverware, but they have the best odds ahead of the final round of the season. They ended as the best team while playing away.

[REVIEW] SHOCK AT MAKSIMIR! Rijeka Has the Chance to Become Champions!

• Despite being the most offensive team on the pitch, the Plavi struggled to shoot on target, and when they did, Šubarić was there to save the Lokosi.
• After a controversial VAR-reviewed penalty, Sandro Kulenović put the “away” team in the lead. However, following a rebound, Silvio Goričan smashed Nevistić’s net with a perfectly struck shot.
• This point could secure Rijeka’s second-ever trophy (if they win today), while also leaving Dinamo level with the Riječani in case of a defeat in the Jadranski Derbi.

[REVIEW] Istra crushed Šibenik and relegated them to the 1.NL

• Vinko Rozić ended all of the Narančasti’s hopes of surviving another season in the HNL by scoring a brace in just four minutes. Stjepan Lončar sealed the victory with his goal.
• With this win, the Zeleno-Žuti move closer to fourth place, surpassing Varaždin by one point. Šibenik has been relegated, as Lokomotiva leads them by five points with only three points remaining.
• Istra concluded their Aldo Drosina campaign with an impressive 11-match unbeaten streak, securing five wins in their last seven games in P**a. Šibenik, conversely, finishes with a poor record of only one victory in their last 15 away matches.

[FIXTURE] Two Derbies, Defining Matches, and More in the 35th Round!

• While we await the start of Istra vs. Šibenik, you should know that Varaždin must fight for their fourth place against a resurgent Osijek. The first derby, the Zagrebački Derby, will be played at Maksimir, as Kranjčevićeva has been unavailable for a long long time.
• On Sunday, Slaven returns after a strong first-leg final to face Gorica in Koprivnica, chasing the Bumbari. The second derby, the Jadranski Derby, will conclude this crucial round, which could decide the fate of many teams.

• After an emotional first leg of the 2025 final, Slaven and Rijeka drew 1-1, and they will fight for the trophy in 14 days at Rujevica!

• While Dinamo had few problems defeating Slaven, Rijeka struggled somewhat against Šibenik, even though the away side also won.
• Hajduk squandered their potential final chance with a draw on the road against Gorica, while fourth-place chaos ensues as Varaždin, Slaven, and Istra (with Osijek already far ahead) are separated by just two points.
• Unless HNS decides to restore Šibenik’s two points, the Narančasti have sadly been relegated.

[REVIEW] Osijek and Lokomotiva drew at Opus Arena and couldn’t achieve their goals.

• Osijek arrived at their stadium with two consecutive wins, while Lokomotiva has been unable to secure a victory.
• After a precise pass from Omerović, Hrvoje Babec struck the ball with great power, delivering an unstoppable shot to open the scoring. In the second half, following an impressive dribbling display by Bušnja, Mirko Sušak scored the equalizer and final goal in Osijek.
• This draw allows Cvitanović to remain optimistic about another HNL season, as the gap with Šibenik now widens to seven points out of nine. On the other hand, this point dampens Rožman’s hopes of catching Varaždin in fourth place.
