Trio Brontë, 1st prizewinners, will release their first CD - digitally and physically - in October 2025. The CD production and promotion was announced as a cross-category special prize, awarded by an extended jury group.

We’re looking forward to an exciting season together, beginning with concerts in Italy, Austria, and Germany, and the release of our first album together for and .kug ! Stay tuned for updates, and hope to catch you at some of the following events ☺️

World premieres of the works from the Piano Trio Composition Competition 🤩
An impressive 206 entries from 54 countries were received for the Composition Competition for Piano Trio, conducted by the Kunstuniversität Graz in 2024. Two of these entries were awarded and became part of the repertoire for all twenty Piano Trios invited to participate in the 12th "Franz Schubert and Modern Music" Competition 2025 in Graz:

Comeback: An exciting category returning to the FS&MM 🎹
After more than 30 years of competition history, the category Piano Duo found its way back to become one of the three FS&MM competition categories in 2025.
The Artistic Committee members responsible for the Piano Duo category, Sivan Silver and Gil Garburg, as well as jurors Götz Schumacher & Shani Diluka speak highly about the Piano Duo comeback.

Simply Quartet, winners of the 1st Prize at FSMM 2018, will serve as the collaboration quartet in the chamber music round of this year’s Busoni Competition in Bolzano. 👏

🇬🇧 Six finalists of the 65th Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition take the stage alongside the acclaimed Simply Quartet to perform some of the most beautiful works in the chamber music repertoire.
On the program: piano quintets by Schumann, Dvořák, Brahms, Shostakovich, and Franck – masterpieces filled with emotion, color, and musical dialogue.

Das Duo Ardea – bestehend aus der Sopranistin Laure-Catherine Beyers und der Pianistin Ana Ostojić – überzeugt durch eine Haltung, die Innovation nicht als Effekt einsetzt, sondern aus einem sehr gegenwärtigen künstlerischen Selbstverständnis heraus entwickelt. Dabei nimmt das Duo Ardea mehrere Rollen ein: als Musikerinnen, Performerinnen und Impulsgeberinnen für neue Werke. Mit ihrem Anspruch, klassische und zeitgenössische Liedkunst organisch zu verbinden, betreten sie neue erzählerische und klangliche Räume. Ihr Projekt zu Rainer Maria Rilkes Duineser Elegien entfaltet sich als vielschichtige dramaturgische Struktur: In enger Zusammenarbeit mit den Komponist:innen Sanziana Dobrovicescu und Mihai Codrea entstehen Auftragskompositionen zu Rilkes Gedichten, die sowohl mit bestehendem, bis ins 17. Jahrhundert zurückreichendem Repertoire als auch mit einem durchdachten Einsatz von Elektronik und performativen Elementen in Beziehung gesetzt werden.

Die Verbindung von analogem Instrumentarium und elektronischen Klangmitteln wird als integraler Bestandteil einer inhaltlich tief verankerten Auseinandersetzung genutzt. Liebe, Tod, Religion, Moral und Hoffnung werden als zentrale, nie abschliessend beantwortbare Fragen verhandelt – stets mit dem Ziel, den Blick auf unsere individuelle Verantwortung in einer sich verändernden Welt zu richten.

Das Konzept überzeugt durch die künstlerische Vision, wobei besonders die erfrischende Perspektive auf das Lied als offene, im Jetzt verankerte Form hervorzuheben ist. Mit hoher stimmlicher und pianistischer Qualität, experimenteller Offenheit und einem ausgeprägten Gespür für zeitgenössische Relevanz beschreitet das Duo zukunftsführende Wege der Liedkunst.

Our “A Lied in 36 hours” challenge was once again a central component of the competition. For the FS&MM 2025, renowned German composer Annette Schlünz was commissioned to create a piece of music for the final round of the competition.
The four Lied Duos – Duo Ardea, Feldmann & Domanski, Felsberga & Eckhaut and Noh & Pfahler – who had qualified for the finals, had less than 36 hours to study the commissioned work, including a short coaching session with Annette Schlünz.
The jury awarded a special prize for the best interpretation of Spätlicht to the Duo Felsberga & Eckhaut.

🎶 Die Jury bestehend aus MARLENE HEIẞ, TONI MING GEIGER und FRANZISKA HEINZEN war beeindruckt von der künstlerischen und musikalischen Qualität der 24 Einreichungen – viele davon mit innovativen Formaten jenseits des klassischen Liederabends. Die intensive Auseinandersetzung mit Rilkes Werk brachte berührende Themen und originelle Konzepte hervor.

🏆 Zwei Projekte wurden mit je einem 1. Preis im Rahmen der Rilke-Jahre 2025 und 2026 ausgezeichnet.

Among the eleven duos, they will present their artistic concepts in the exciting new format of the competition in ‘s-Hertogenbosch on September 27–28.
