What if the style trending on TikTok was actually 2,000 years old? 💫

Somewhere, a teenager scrolls TikTok for a style her ancestor wore two thousand years ago - though she simply knows it as 'trending.'

Welcome to West African braids, where every plait tells a story and every scalp becomes a canvas for cultural expression.

From Dakar's Fulani precision to Accra's Ghana weaving to Lagos's relentless experimentation - braids are bridges between nations.

Do you want to cook a dish that carries four hundred years of history? 🌍

Caribbean Chicken and Rice is more than a recipe.

It is a culinary bridge between West Africa and the Caribbean - Thieboudienne and Jollof traditions that survived the Middle Passage, adapted to new soils, and never forgot the homeland.

In our Issue 02 recipe feature, we trace the dish from the rice fields of Senegal to the kitchens of Kingston.

What does it truly mean to become a woman? 🌺

The Krobo people of Ghana's Eastern Region have an answer that spans generations.

Part Two of our Dipo series takes you deeper - into the raffia collar that strips away ego, the Meme white clay that transforms each initiate into a living canvas of purity, and the Te No Yami sacred stone that serves as the ultimate test and blessing.

They are no longer becoming. They have become.

Did you know that Ghana's most iconic school was born from a musical metaphor? 🎓

'Nothing but the best is good enough for Africa,' said Dr. Kwegyir Aggrey.

He meant it. He lived it. He convinced colonial officials to allow co-education against their will - then died six months after the school opened, knowing he had built something that would outlast everything.

Achimota School is now approaching 100 years. Its legacy? Presidents. Judges. The University of Ghana. KNUST.

Have you ever wondered what the Asantehene is saying through his clothes? 👘

In Asante royalty, fashion is a language.

Black Kuntunkuni for deep mourning. Cowrie-adorned Sedie Ntoma for wealth and spiritual authority. Akunini Ntoma to honour the warriors of old. Arabic-inscribed Hye w'anhye as spiritual armour from across cultures.

Every outfit is a silent statement - an unwritten chapter of Asante history.

When was the last time a poem made you question everything you thought you knew? 📜

'Son, my eyes have beheld two shackled shadows under the sun.'

Two Types of Slaves is a meditation on liberation, memory, and identity - tracing the Israelites who bartered freedom for bread, the Africans packed onto slave ships, and the question of what we have done with our freedom since.

'Ashamed of the motherland, yet we worship Wakanda.'
