What is the scale of surviving in the harsh environment?

Above the treeline in the Alps, life exists at the edge of possibility. These are among the last wildernesses—places where biological communities have been shaped by millennia of evolutionary pressure. When conditions change, they change too. Slowly. Subtly. Invisibly.

According to research published in eco.mont (Vol. 14), long-term monitoring of high-elevation ecosystems in the Alps reveals that species like Salix herbacea show clear responses to climatic warming—shifting their positions along elevation transects, moving to find the resources they need.

Showreel 𖣂 ͏ELEMENTS OF NATURE
RIGHT DIRECTION x ἐphemera ONE

A hybrid collection born from data, materialized for the body. For this collaboration, we created prototypes of garments generated from ecological data—pieces intrinsically linked to the parameters of specific Alpine localities. Each form draws from the geometries of native plants, translating their adaptive logic into wearable structures.

The collection exists in two realms: physical garments produced on-demand, and their digital counterparts, connected via embedded NFC tags. It is a modular system designed for scalable retail—a living interface between nature and technology, ecology and design.

Premiered at | Digital Fashion Week NYC & London 2025. Two looks were realized as physical dresses by .up and garments by .one with digital twins, featured on the runway and within the metaverse space.

The physical accessories carry NFC tags, soon to be activated with real-time ecological data. This is the second chapter of our larger exploration. The third will focus on materiality and fabrication—testing sustainable, biodegradable materials to deepen the connection between what we wear and the ecosystems we inhabit.
Follow the evolution.

What if our wearables could connect us to a remote ecosystem?

In what forms, materialities, and details can this connection become tangible? Can we observe, wear, and feel the changes?
We’re seeking the answers.

Digital Botany of •Elements of Nature•

We are developing a library of digital forms based on botanical data and L-system grammars. These computational structures designed to be dynamically reconfigured in response to real-time environmental data streams. Awaiting to be reconnected with the real-time data and world inputs.

•Elements Of Nature• starts with a botanical blueprint.

The 3D scans, key features and L-systems of specific Alpine plants are used to generate the forms and massing of the objects, define materials, and design the entire collection. The resulting geometries materialize in two ways:

• as wearable sculptures augmented with a digital layer
• as intricate patterns for a collaborative fashion collection with .up ♡

•Elements Of Nature• uses a calculated list of plants native to the Alpine flora as its starting point.

According to the article ‚Long-term monitoring of high-elevation terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems in the Alps – a five-year synthesis‘ published in eco.mont (Vol. 14), the species Gnaphalium supinum, Polytrichastrum sexangulare, Salix herbacea, Soldanella pusilla, and Helictotrichon versicolor serve as key indicators of climatic warming, shifting their growth along elevation gradients as the climate changes.

•Elements Of Nature• opens a conversation on how human habitats, garments, and artificial objects can participate in the interconnected web of life.

This inquiry guides our exploration into bringing eco-data-driven art into physical reality. Following the Virtual Chapter of the series, we’ve created a collection of wearable sculptures inspired by eco-data from the Alpine region. The designs are based on plants from the Tyrolean Alps that serve as indicators of climate change.

These nature-responsive garments, augmented with a digital layer, aim to blend the virtual and physical, the organic and inorganic.

〰️ more about the species and physical pieces comes soon

Geometries emerge from ecodata.

•Elements Of Nature• series features abstract organic patterns, digital sculptures and forms linked with the elements of species habitat and communicating the notion of the interdependence of every form of life upon the other.

The geometries are generated parametrically with custom scripts in and can be changed upon alterations of the incoming data. In our previous projects, we used bioacoustics data on Whales (The Soundwaves Collection) and data on the locations of Lions (Tracing The Wild) to create digital sculptures that represent the dynamics of species‘ behavior and habitat in time and space.

〰️ follow us to find out how the new iteration came to fruition.

.one is intertwining virtual and physical Nature.

This summer, we pushed our research into the tangible realm, using additive fabrication to materialize the geometries of ecological data. This is the next step in data representation: moving beyond the screen to create artifacts you can see. touch. wear. and connect with.
