ENGLISH:

Built just a few years ago -Prime Studio - one of Europes most extensive and modern sound-studio-complexes, located amidst the beautiful landscape of the Tirolian Alps creates new standards, plus goes that one essential step further. Founders Gerhard Buchbauer and Björn Heitzer, met and came to appreciate each others work during a corporate music production in a studio based in Munich.

When shortly after this first meeting, Gerhard decided not to part-take in the huge family-business and follow his true passion : music, instead. With a degree from the famous Berklee College of Music his ideas to create a blueprint for Prime Studios materialised in a flash . With Björn Heitzer, whose vita as a sound-engineer ranges from studio works to numerous tours across Europe with musicals such as „David Copperfield“ or „West Side Story“, the powerful team was formed. In a time of ceasing CD sales and grand-closings of several big music studios, the duo build up a sound factory against all odds that will, because of it´s founders great expertise and uncompromising technical equipment, fullfill highest demands. Being truthful to their motto „We add sparkle to your music“, the Prime Studio engineers hone every production with that special warm garment that only can be scored by the long-time experience and rare analogue-equipment: „We aim to offer the best possible selection of modern technics and fine vintage-equipement. But the right feeling is just as important to us. A musician or sound-engineer can only reach his optimum performance when he really feels comfortable.“ so says managing director Gerhard Buchbauer. Prime Studios team oversee the complete production process of any kind of music genre, from counseling, to recording and final mix-down. Obviously the facilities and equipment are also available to musicians, bands and producers briniging in their own engineering team. On top of that the studios own guesthouse, just across the street, offers lodging with four spacious bed-rooms and a garden. Creative energy can be reactivted here in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Anyone sitting at the sound mixing-console in room B with its open fireplace, equipped with its Neve VRP 48, will certainly be overwhelmed by the warmth of those precious and rare outboards by Pultec or Fairchild or the infamous EMT hall plates being laced over their music production. All equipment is kept in mint condition allowing the revival of the legendary sound of the past. Nowadays such equipment is only known from the graphics of a plug-in emulation, but at Prime Studios it is alive. Only a tiny glimmer of a difference might be noticable when listening to the digital recreations of the originals from back in the day. On special request the silkiness of this sound can be increased by using the Neve 8016 console from the legendary Caribou-Ranch-Studio as a front-end. One of the recording-booths of Room B is decorated with numerous Yamaha Pianos and Hammond B3s. With the rooms varying heights of the walls and accoustic concepts, it provides the perfect sound for any field of application. Room A ist not just perfect for high quality music productions, but also ideal for film and post-production. It has been accousticly optimized by accurate meassurements and is equipped with THX-certification, including HD-beamer and comfortable movie-theater seats. The Avid System 5-MC Mix-Controller with an allround Total-Recall fulfills all standards of the time-critical demands of modern production sequencing. In this room we might also find some of the finest selection of outboard analogue equipment such as Neve, Urei or Focusrite. Additionally to the Pro-Tools-System these are used for perfecting the sound. In the 35 square meters room, flooded by day-light, even big bands can get a taste of the variable accoustics of the room. Out of a huge collection of high-class vintage microphones kept in best technical condition, the customer can choose his favourite. From Neumann U47 to AKG C12 everything is available at disposal. If clients are looking to cut the costs effectively, they can also use the CLASP-System via DAW-Intergration instead of using the classic, full analogue recording-system to pace up the work-flow. A lot has improved in studio technology over the years: today, software emulation and computers have become a household tool in many home- and project-studios to accelerate the production process. Nevertheless, the demand for professional sound production with maximum standards, that can only be achieved in combination with high quality analogue equipment and accoustic perfection, still prevails. This is why Prime Studio is a perfectly tuned technical playground for all experienced musicians, engineers and producers, who want to feel like they're in 7th heaven. „We add sparkle to your music“ stands for that one essential step further. A class of it´s own. Zero trade-offs. DEUTSCH:

This is the historic 24 channel "large format console" from EMI / Pathe Marconi, designed & built for the studio of the same name. 😁

Unique in its kind - unique in the world.

This more than special console comes out of the late 60´s.
Pathe Marconi is the name of the studio and Boulogne Billancourt the place, south west of Paris, after the Porte d'Auteuil near Parc des Princes and the Roland Garros tennis stadium.

Also the Beatles dropped in to Pathe Marconi Studios in January 1964… 🥹

EMI's West German imprint, Electrola Gesellschaft, had been attempting to convince Brian Epstein and George Martin that they could only sell Beatles records if they were in German.
The session had originally been scheduled to take place on 27 January 1964, but The Beatles had proved reluctant to attend. George Martin eventually persuaded them to fulfil the obligation, and so they entered the Pathé Marconi Studios in Paris to record new versions of their two biggest hits. They recorded new vocals for “She Loves You”,”’I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “Can’t Buy Me Love”

The Rolling Stones show up in the studio in 1982. At this time it was their second home. A kind of new Olympic studios for them. 😎

A really special Neve 8016 out of Caribou Ranch Studios / Colorado! 🥹

Classic 80 series 24 channel console (40 channels in mixdown) completely fitted with 1064 Pre/EQ modules and 2254 compressor/limiters. 🤘🏻

After a four- month refurbishment, the console was send to us & installed in our Studio B2. The console's installation at Prime Studio control room B2 marks its return to Europe after over three decades in the states, where she became part of music history.

This Neve 8016's began her existence in1972, in London, where she was built. Original owner Sir George Martin used the console to produce albums for America and others before selling it to Caribou Ranch founder, James Guercio. Legendary in both, setting and sound, Caribou was a destination for major artists like Chicago, who recorded five studio albums on the Neve 8016; Elton John, for his album Caribou (named after the studio); and Earth Wind & Fire, who recorded two albums at the ranch, including the Grammy-winning “That's the Way of the World”.

After an electrical fire in 1985, the studio's doors were closed and much of the salvaged equipment was put into storage. Guercio ultimately donated the Neve 8016 to the University of Colorado at Denver, its last stop before acquired the console and began restoration for Prime Studio.
Prime Studio's first session on the Neve 8016 was with drummer Gregg Bissonette, who has toured with the likes of Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson, David Lee Roth, Steve Vai and Toto, and played on recordings with the Counting Crows, Duran Duran and on the Grammy winning album Supernatural with Carlos Santana.

Quote Gerhard Buchbauer:"I was completely convinced that we found what we'd been looking for--it's not “only” a Neve, it really is one of a kind with the 1064 pre/eq modules, not to mention the incredible energy associated with this desk that really is a part of classic rock history. 😎🤟🏻

And not just that, we partnered with .audio to develope our Caribou Bundle and bring you this legendary sound into the digital realm 😍🫢 Check out our website for more!!

The EAR 825 is a stereo equalizer for studio use where sound quality is the top priority. 😎

Enter the genius of Tim De Paravicini, who knows a thing or ninety-nine about recording studio gear and vacuum tuber electronics. His EAR 825 Q vacuum tube amp is a five band pure valve circuit equalizer. 🤩

gotta love a good EQ 😍 Check out our website for our full equipment list 😎

Amazing sounding vintage Neve stereo compressor/limiter. The Neve 80365 😎

Extremely rare and coveted. 🫢

The Neve 83065 was released in 1985, making it a relatively "modern" compressor, and evolved from classics like the Neve 2254 compressor. The 83065 is divided into two sections, with all stepped controls for instant recall. 😍

Compressor appreciation post 😎🤩
1. Neve 2254/E - A superb compressor, favoured for its warm and silky compression style.
2. Locomotive Audio Model 14B - Authentic to the design aesthetic of classic vintage vari-mu and optical compressors of the 1940s − 1960s
3. Fairchild 670 - one of the most sought after compressors
4. Mercury M66 - an all tube and all transformer, fully-balanced variable-bias limiting amplifier.
5. Fairchild 663 - Not the 670, but a really nice sounding little helper
6. Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor - a mastering-grade compressor/limiter with two compressors (stereo or dual mono) in series.
7. Universal Audio Rack - UREI 1176 LN Blue Stripe/ LA-4/UREI 1178
8. Multiple Compressors - Neve/GML/EMI/DBX/UREI

all of these have their unique purpose and characteristics but the all have one thing in common they sound amazing! 😁

The LA-4 is one of the UREI legends released in 1977. 😎

The Universal Audio / Urei LA-4 Compressor/Limiter was the successor to the popular LA-3.

The UREI LA-4 Compressor/Limiter is a single-channel unit, although two may be strapped for stereo operation. Making use of UREI's patented Electro-Optical Attenuator technology, the LA-4 offers smooth, predictable performance coupled with ease of operation.

The gain reduction is accomplished with an RMS detector, which is the analog of human hearing, so gain reduction is smooth and natural sounding. 👍🏻
