Dark old money color combo
A while ago I showed you a lighter combination option to achieve a look with old money aesthetics - let’s turn things around and do a dark colored one this time around.
Brown: one of my favorite color to wear - this earthy tone is so versatile. Some may even say it’s a perfect substitute for your navy blazer
Green: winter requires layers so why not add a little color with a green sweater - keeping the top pairing in an earthy palette for that understated appearance
Grey: grey trousers are THE staple in menswear - never wrong, (almost) always right. The grey grounds the look and pairs wonderfully with the earthy tones on top.

Fall/winter staples 👇
It’s time to put topcoats and fedoras out of their (summer) hibernation - finally. I believe we do not have to argue that topcoats are essential clothing items once the temperature drops. One of my favorite for the transitional period is my beige dust coat while not too warm it shields one perfectly from the elements.
Secondly - although more rarely seen these days nothing exudes more sophistication for me than a good felt fedora. It is a practical yet stylish accessory that has been around for ages.

Inspired by: Harvey Specter (casual edition)
I started this series with a Harvey Specter inspired look - of course in suit and tie as most would imagine. As Harvey was named twice in my poll for inspiration sources I thought I’d also use a less known side of Harvey Specter for inspiration.
Turns out his character also has a great sense of style when being dressed casually - which is seldom the case I’ll admit. Harvey’s casual style mixes between rugged, laid back and elevated casual but always on point, cool and fitting the occasion.
I tried to translate his appearance into a refined casual look that fits my style aesthetics. For this I used tan chinos - a casual classic - in a high waisted and wider cut paired with a flannel button down shirt - the more refined type not your average lumberjack flannel. To take it up a notch I added a leather flight jacket and chukka boots to complete the look. With an outfit like that you show you’re meaning business even off the clock - like Harvey Specter. Case closed!

Casual suiting 👇
I’ve said it before and I’ll see it again gladly: it is okay to dress down a suit!
My favorite way to do so - especially in autumn/winter is with a crewneck sweater. However, also a refined polo shirt or knit shirt would do the trick. For footwear I generally would suggest loafers for a casual suit look - for this time of the year you might consider wearing boots though.

True style is… pt.6
Researching about style and menswear and life in general lead me to this phrase coins by Gore Vidal, an American writer/actor/politician:
“Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.”
Upon reading this I thought it is a great summary of what I tried to convey in this series. If you look closely, Gore Vidal mentions three steps to style, which I can only agree to.
First: know who you are. Certainly one of the toughest parts to get, at least for me. But only if you know who you are as a person, what you stand for and what your values are, one can stand his ground with confidence and excuse style.
Second: know what you want to say. Almost equally as difficult but easier if you are set on the first point. I’m particular clothes are a form of non-verbal communication, just like body language. So try to think of what you want to say with your clothes before wearing them. Consider time, people and occasion you are going to dress for and of course your intention be it to blend in or to the opposite stand out for example.
Third: don’t give a damn. Once you are set on the first two points you’ll need to deliver in a confident manner. Thus, not give a damn about the perception by others. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t care about them or your appearance but rather stand above it to show the necessary confidence to achieve true style.

3 tips for monochromatic outfits
Monochromatic means one color - so a monochromatic outfit is basically a look where all items are of the same color hue although they made be and probably should be different shades. Here are some pointers if you want to try this kind of look
1️⃣ use different textures: to not make the outfit look bland and having everything kinda blend together use different textures in your garments to create contrast and set the individual pieces apart.
2️⃣ create color contrast: same goes for colors - you usually want to create some kind of contrast and not pair items if the same hue together, unless you have a set of items in exactly the same color (like a suit)
3️⃣ start with neutral colors: if you want to start out with monochromatic looks I suggest going for neutral colors first like grey, brown, beige as these tend to mix easier in my experience. Once you get comfortable enough you can also venture into bolder colors.
