Morning calm at Vienna’s Graben 🏛️🌇

Here stands the Plague (Trinity) Column – commissioned by Emperor Leopold I in 1680 to give thanks for the end of the Great Plague of 1679.

Completed in 1693, this 21 m Baroque monument was originally designed by Matthias Rauchmiller, with contributions from leading artists of the time.

Rising from a dramatic base of saints and angels, it culminates in a gilded vision of the Holy Trinity.

A winter morning in the Burggarten, with the impressive Mozart Monument at its heart ❄️🎶

This monument, created in 1896 by Viktor Tilgner, honors the musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 🎼

One of its most striking details? The playful cherubs symbolizing his work and the famous music relief featuring the overture to The Magic Flute.

Did you know that the monument originally stood at Albertinaplatz? It was only moved to the Burggarten in 1953, where it now blends perfectly with the historic surroundings and nature.
