LA RUKA LIVE IN CONCERT + 7" VINYL RELEASE
Tickets: https://entradium.com/events/la-ruka
La Ruka is an Afro-Colombian MC, singer and songwriter born in Anchicayá, Buenaventura, and currently based in Barcelona. With a career spanning more than twenty years, she is a key voice in the urban music of Colombia’s Pacific region.
Her music blends salsa choke, hip-hop, rap, marimba, Afro-Colombian rhythms and electronic sounds. Through direct and powerful storytelling, deeply connected to her territory, La Ruka sings about women—particularly Afro-descendant women—displacement, social injustice, cultural roots and everyday life in Buenaventura.
Her music brings together political protest, humour, celebration and dance. In her songs, joy does not mean forgetting the struggles, but creating a collective way to resist and transform them.
At this concert in Vienna, La Ruka will present her new 7-inch vinyl release published by discos elgozo, featuring two songs that capture the strength, memory and flavour of Buenaventura. For this special occasion, she will perform live with marimba, bass and DJ—bringing together the musical traditions of the Pacific, contemporary experimentation and the energy of the dance floor.
A night to hear stories of struggle and territory, feel the marimba and celebrate joy as a form of resistance.
