"It's both a blessing, to live in a city like that, where every stone has its own history. And it's a curse. Because sometimes you're so immersed in history, and memories, and the old times, that you forget to live... You forget that there is the 'here' and the 'now'."

In the last video of our series of short documetaries about the city of Plovdiv we are exploring once again the dualistic character of Plovdiv's heritage.

"It's not just about practicalities, about inhabiting a space. It's also about creativity, about the soul of living." - Vesselina Sarieva, who has been a key figure in transforming the cultural landscape of Plovdiv, tells us passionately about how she works with history and heritage… about building bridges across generations, about creating curiosity and about connecting with everyday life…

"It was this moment of feeling inspiration and appreciation for the deep story that is actually here. I'm standing here and I'm seeing all of it right now." - One of the most fascinating characteristics of Plovdiv is its diversity. Does the relaxedness come from its centuries-old diversity?

FOOD Part 1 - Plovdiv The Relaxed City

What is a French chocolateur doing in Plovdiv? We meet Vincent and Maria at their new manufacturing unit in an industrial neighborhood of Plovdiv. Vincent tells us about his observations about the quality of agricultural produce of Bulgaria and compares it with Lyon and Paris. Both share with us their passion for hand-made chocolate and non-industrial production of food.

Then we meet the wonderful artisanal bread maker Nadya. She was originally from Plovdiv, but lived in Sofia for many years. At some point, Nadya had decided to change her life and return to Plovdiv. This is where she made bread making a part of her everyday life. Is there a connection between the relaxedness of the city and bread making?
