It is a special privilege to announce the worldwide general management of one of today's leading dramatic sopranos, the unequaled Wagner and Strauss heroine:

RICARDA MERBETH

Mastering at the highest level a repertoire which few others can, we look forward to a fruitful and exciting collaboration in the years to come.

Kangmin Justin Kim - Countertenor begins his season at the Staatsoper Hamburg, reprising the role of Despina in Mozart’s “Così fan tutte”. Herbert Fritsch’s production is conducted by Omer Meir Wellberg and Keren Kagarlitsky. Performances are scheduled this evening, on October 19, 22, and 30.

The Korean-born, Chicago-raised countertenor made his debut at the Hamburg State Opera as Annio in “La clemenza di Tito” in May 2024, returned as Despina the following month, and appeared in June 2025 in the world premiere of Unsuk Chin’s “Die Dunkle Seite des Mondes”.

Toi, toi, toi to Beth Taylor: Mezzo-Soprano, who makes her eagerly awaited debut with the LA Phil as alto soloist in Gustav Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 2, the “Resurrection,” under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel. These performances hold special significance as they take place during Dudamel’s final season as Music and Artistic Director of the orchestra. The first concert is tonight, followed by additional performances on October 10, 11, and 12, 2025.
Just two weeks later, she joins the orchestra on its Asian tour, with appearances at the Seoul Arts Centre (Oct. 21), Tokyo’s Suntory Hall (Oct. 25), the National Concert Hall in Taiwan (Oct. 29), and the Taikang Cultural Centre (Oct. 30).
The Scottish mezzo-soprano has been swiftly establishing herself as a leading Mahler interpreter. Widely praised for her performances of the Resurrection Symphony with major ensembles—including the London Philharmonic Orchestra—she will return to the work later this season with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Beth Taylor: Mezzo-Soprano opens her 2025/26 season this evening at London’s Cadogan Hall performing the title role in excerpts from Rossini’s rarely performed yet searingly intense and dramatic “Ermione”, joined by the Monteverdi Choir & Orchestras conducted by Jakob Lehmann. The program also features Rossini’s most celebrated sacred masterpiece, the “Stabat Mater”.
Hailed as a genuine rossiniana, Taylor has won acclaim for her interpretations of some of the composer’s most demanding roles, among them the protagonist of “La Cenerentola”, Falliero in “Bianca e Falliero” and Arsace in “Semiramide”.

Toi, toi, toi to Juan Sancho, who tonight returns to Madrid’s Teatro Real as Pompeo in Antonio Vivaldi’s "Farnace". This semi-staged production is directed by Mathilde Etienne, with Emiliano Gonzalez Toro both conducting the ensemble Gemelli Factory and singing the title role.
Hailed as one of today’s leading interpreters of the Baroque repertoire, the Sevillian tenor is no stranger to Teatro Real, where he has previously appeared as Emilio in Handel’s "Partenope", Grimoaldo in "Rodelinda", and, most recently, Marzio in "Mitridate", among other roles.

Toi, toi, toi to Michael Spyres - BariTenor, who this evening sings the title role in “Les contes d’Hoffmann”, opening the 2025/26 season of the Opéra Comique - Page officielle in Paris. The new staging is directed by Lotte De Beer and conducted by Pierre Dumoussaud. Additional performances will take place on September 27, 29; October 1, 3, 5.
Michael Spyres is no stranger to Hoffmann, a role he has sung to great acclaim on numerous occasions and captured on DVD in his debut at Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu, released by Erato. A familiar and much-admired presence at the Opéra Comique, the American baritenor has previously distinguished himself there in once-popular and demanding French works such as “La muette de Portici”, “Le postillon de Longjumeau”, and “La nonne sanglante”, as well as in Beethoven’s “Fidelio” as Florestan.

This afternoon, Michael Spyres joins the Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg for a concert in memory of John Nelson, who passed away last March. He will perform the tenor part in Mozart’s “Requiem”, under the direction of Wilson Ng, in the evocative setting of Strasbourg’s Saint-Guillaume Church.
A close collaborator of the American conductor, Michael Spyres was often a central figure in Nelson’s most acclaimed projects. Maestro Nelson, in turn, left an indelible mark on both the Orchestra and the city’s musical life.
