Toi, toi, toi to Michael Spyres - BariTenor, who this evening adds another country to his ever-growing list of triumphs, making his Latvian debut at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet. He is joined by the renowned pianist and his trusted recital partner, Mathieu Pordoy, in a richly varied program featuring Wagner’s “Wesendonck Lieder”, Mahler’s “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen”, Strauss’s “Vier Lieder” Op. 27, and Korngold’s song cycle “Unvergänglichkeit”.
Internationally acclaimed as a recitalist, the Missouri-born baritenor brings to the song stage the same stylistic finesse, narrative focus, and expressive daring that define his operatic performances.

This evening, Juan Sancho sings the title role in Gluck’s "Orphée et Eurydice "(Paris 1774) at the Filharmonia Krakowska. Presented by capella cracoviensis within the “Muzyczne Mosty” project, the concert performance brings Gluck’s reform opera to life on historical instruments under the direction of Camille Delaforge. The Paris version, Gluck’s French reworking of his earlier "Orfeo ed Euridice", expands the ballet music and introduces new virtuosic writing for the tenor Orphée in place of the original castrato role.

The Sevillian tenor earned outstanding reviews for his portrayal of the tragic mythic hero in staged performances at Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn in 2023.

𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗼𝗯𝗿𝘇𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗸𝗮 makes her role debut as Ortrud in “Lohengrin” in a new production at Staatstheater Karlsruhe today. Toi, Toi, Toi! While still keeping verismo and Puccini roles such as Tosca, Barbara Dobrzanska has enlarged her repertoire in the last few years with roles such as the Foreign Princess in “Rusalka” or Gertrud in “Hänsel und Gretel”. Beth Taylor: Mezzo-Soprano continues her impressive string of high-profile engagements this evening with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester at the Sacred Heart Church in the Bavarian capital. Under the musical direction of Anu Tali, she performs the soloist part in "The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace", composed by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins in 2000. Muezzin Nabil Al Chalabi joins her in this powerful anti-war oratorio, which gives voice to Christian, Muslim, and Far Eastern traditions.

Beth Taylor is no stranger to contemporary music. Notably, in August 2021, she sang the mezzo-soprano part in Tom Cunningham and Alexander McCall Smith’s Songs of Edinburgh , also featuring bass Brian Bannatyne-Scott and pianist Michał Gajzler, at St Michael’s Church in Edinburgh, a performance that was also released on CD.
