Today, we are marking the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act. On this occasion, Elina Valtonen, Finland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Chairperson of the OSCE, convened the Helsinki+50 Conference: Respecting the Legacy, Preparing for the Future.

This was a unique opportunity to reflect on the past while also thinking strategically about our future and the OSCE’s vital role in ensuring comprehensive security.

I participated in the panel titled "Principles in Action: The Impact of the OSCE and Launch of Helsinki+50 Fund", highlighting on the fact that, now more than ever, we need to return to the core principles of the Helsinki Final Act and protect media freedom as a key pillar of democracy and security.
