The Abbotsford Police Department's gang prevention initiative, the Pathways program, has been honoured with the prestigious Webber Seavey Excellence in Law Enforcement Award. Presented by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) on Tuesday, October 22nd in Boston, the award was accepted by Harpreet Jhinjar, the program manager and visionary behind Pathways.

With all the buzz of Taste of Abby going on, we hope you didn’t forget what day it is; publication day for the Patrika! Today, we want to showcase Jasmit Singh Phulka and his achievements.

Abbotsford is celebrating the remarkable achievements of Jasmit Singh Phulka, a local wrestler who has been named the recipient of this year’s Community Champion Achievement Award. This prestigious accolade, awarded by the city, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to their community, both on and off the mat.

With September arriving, the Abbotsford community is anxiously anticipating the beginning of Taste of Abby, Abbotsford’s fall food festival that encourages members of the community to celebrate the fall harvest. Consisting of a night market on Friday, September 13th, combined with performances, events, activities for everyone, and, of course, food, the festival will run for nine days, starting next Friday. Abbotsford’s very own Kinder Sidhu, alongside the rest of Team BC, won big at the Canadian Ball Hockey Nationals held in Winnipeg, Manitoba from August 5th to 10th with a 3 to 2 win against Manitoba!

Join us in wishing good luck to the BC team members representing Canada at the ISBHF World Championships in Edmonton, Alberta from August 21st to 25th.

Dominating both the local and global competitions, Rupinder Johal, with her workhorse attitude, is determined to represent Canada at the Olympics.

With an impressive list of accomplishments, Rupinder has been the provincial Champion for two consecutive years (2022 and 2023), a 2022 Cadet National team member, a 2022 Canada Summer Games champion, a 2023 National championship, and most recently, a 2024 Junior national team member.
