Organizing committee says there will be no Final again

The organizing committee of the 2026 Inter County Football Tournament has confirmed that there will be no final of the tournament after today's game ended prematurely.

Players and fans of Nzara County protested the decision of central referee Charles Oga when he awarded a penalty against them.

Attempts by Ibba County Commissioner, Bishop of the ECSS Diocese to resolve the matter went unsuccessful as the Nzara County team stuck to their decision that the penalty against them wouldn't be taken.

Both Nzara and Yambio County teams are expected to leave Ibba early tomorrow morning to head back home.

Yambio County have secured a dramatic place in the final of the Intercounty Football Tournament 2026 after defeating favorites Church Team 3–2 on penalties, following a 1–1 draw at full time.

The result marked sweet revenge for Yambio County, who had lost to the same opponents on penalties just a day earlier, but advanced into the latter stages as Best Losers—an opportunity they made full use of with a resilient performance.
Church Team opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Isaac Sam, while Tingba Mbokani restored parity for Yambio County just before the halftime break.

A disciplined second-half display saw Yambio County defend deep and limit Church Team’s chances, forcing the contest to penalties once more. This time, Yambio County held their nerve to emerge victorious.

Goalkeeper Tambua Mar Mar delivered a standout performance and was deservedly named Man of the Match, thanks to several crucial saves that proved decisive in both regulation time and the shootout.

Yambio County now prepare for a highly anticipated final showdown with Nzara County.
