My oh my, does Bai Long Store know how to create a top-notch culinary experience! Located on the ground floor of the Channel Ten building on Hutt street, the Asian fusion restaurant exhibits a light and polished interior with a showstopping suspended timber indoor garden structure hanging in the centre.

The waiters had a finesse that made us feel right at ease with their food and beverage recommendations. The mouthwatering cocktail menu had us stumped, so with our lovely waiter’s suggestion we opted for the Mangolita cocktail which set our taste buds on fire in all the right ways.

The spread of shareplates could not be faulted. The Kingfish Sashimi dotted with wasabi puree packed a spicy punch but was perfectly balanced with the basil miso dressing. The Crispy Cauliflower sat on a bed of edamame coconut hummus and disappeared before it was even placed on the table.

The fall-off-the-bone Lamb Ribs and Duck Bao is still living rent-free in our heads. Need we say more?

This enchanting cellar door is something from a fairytale.

Down the Rabbit Hole should be top of the list for your next Mclaren Vale wine tour, with it’s warm bohemian atmosphere and beautiful baby blue double-decker bus as the focal point. Fit out with seating for intimate wine tastings and a viewing platform, the bus is where the magic happens. The friendly staff welcome walk-ins with open arms and are all too keen to share their extensive knowledge on the wines of the region.

Scattered with people from all walks of life, the casual and inclusive nature of the winery calls for rolling out your rug, ordering a locally produced grazing platter and a bottle of vino (the Chardonnay was a deliciously light Summer sip) and soaking up the acoustic tunes as the afternoon dwindles.

Follow for more dreamy content.
