Are You Talking To Your Audience or At Them?

If your content isn’t resonating, chances are it’s not a volume problem—it’s a relevance one.

📉 76% of consumers say they’re more likely to engage with brands that understand them and speak directly to their needs (Salesforce, 2024). Yet too many businesses are still leading with jargon, not value.

Here’s the thing:
Your audience doesn’t want to hear what you do, they want to hear what you do for them.

They want clarity, not complexity. Solutions, not slogans.

What works:
✔️ Using their words, not industry terms
✔️ Addressing pain points before pushing features
✔️ Making sure every post answers “What’s in it for them?”
🧠 Messaging isn’t about being louder. It’s about being sharper.

Refining your tone, tightening your message, and speaking like a human—not a brochure.

When your audience feels understood, trust builds. And when trust builds, conversions follow.

❌ MYTH: “Posting more often means better results.”
✅ FACT: Consistency beats frequency – every time.

Posting daily without a strategy is like yelling into the void. A HubSpot study found that brands that post 3 to 5 times per week often see better engagement than those posting daily without intention.

It’s not about flooding feeds. It’s about showing up with purpose.
📊 Recent data from Sprout Social shows that audiences value relevance and value over volume – meaning your content needs to answer their questions, solve their problems, or spark a real connection. Quality + timing = cut-through.

If your audience is zoning out, it might be time to rethink your rhythm – not your hustle.

You can have the best offer in the room and still lose the client in the conversation. Not because your product isn’t good, but because the person in front of you didn’t feel understood. And when people don’t feel understood, they don’t move forward. They go quiet, they stall, and they find someone else.

What I’ve seen work, consistently, across every kind of business, is this: slow down and make the conversation about them, not you. Not what you want to say. What they actually need to feel heard about.

There’s a line in a book I’ve been recommending lately, *Fight Less, Win More*, that puts it perfectly: it’s not about tricks or tactics; it’s about a fundamental shift; it’s not about you; it’s about them.

That shift changes everything. How you handle objections. How you retain clients. How your brand actually feels to the people interacting with it.

The businesses I work with who grow fastest aren’t the ones with the biggest ad budgets. They’re the ones who’ve got this right.

If this resonates, let’s talk. Reach out or visit lustosamarketing.com. And I’ve linked the book in the comments because it’s worth your time.

🌍 Purpose-Led Brands Are Built to Last 💪💛

International Day of Charity hits different when you've spent years working with organisations that are genuinely changing lives.

We've been lucky enough to support charities tackling everything from homelessness to environmental conservation, youth mentorship to aged care advocacy. Each one taught us that the best marketing isn't about clever copy—it's about authentic connection.

When your client's mission is to make the world better, your job becomes less about selling and more about amplifying voices that deserve to be heard.

The campaigns that kept us up at night weren't the ones with big budgets. They were the ones with big hearts.

Need a Spring Clean on your Marketing?

Spring’s not just for cleaning your wardrobe - it’s prime time to review your marketing funnel.

Ask yourself:
What’s growing?
What’s wilting?

Where are leads getting stuck—or dropping off altogether?

According to HubSpot’s 2025 report, 68% of marketers say their top-performing funnels are reviewed and optimised quarterly. Yet many leave underperforming content, clunky automation, or weak CTAs sitting there for months.

Here’s a simple spring audit checklist:
✔️ Are your lead magnets still aligned with your ideal audience?
✔️ Are your nurture sequence opening rates above 35%?
✔️ Have your landing pages been A/B tested recently?
✔️ Are you tracking the right metrics—not just clicks, but conversions?
A few small tweaks now can give your conversions a serious growth spurt before the end of the year.

Your website should be doing some of the selling while you're busy running the business. If it's just sitting there as a digital brochure, it's underperforming.

Ask yourself:
- Does it clearly explain what you do, in the first five seconds?
- Is there an easy way for a visitor to take the next step?
- Does it build trust with proof, not just claims?
- Is it actually generating enquiries, or just page views?
- A working website should be bringing in leads even when you're not actively marketing.

If you're not sure how yours is performing, we'd be happy to take a look. Message us for a quick review.

Content shouldn't just build awareness. It should give your sales team something to actually use in a conversation.

Content that supports sales usually includes:
- Case studies that answer "has this worked for someone like me?"
- One-pagers that explain pricing, process, or ROI simply
- LinkedIn posts that address objections before a prospect raises them
- FAQ content that shortens the sales cycle by answering questions early
- Ask your sales team what questions come up most often. That list is your next content brief.

What's a question your sales team gets asked on every single call?

Stop putting flyers on social media.

If your social post looks like something you’d print and hand out at a farmers market — packed with text, five different fonts, a logo in the corner — your audience is scrolling past it. Here’s why:

The problem:

Flyers are designed to be held and read up close. Feeds are designed to be scrolled past in under a second.

Small body text that’s legible on an 8.5x11 sheet becomes a blur at phone-screen size.

Multiple competing headlines/fonts work on paper (where the eye can wander) but create visual noise on a 3-inch screen.

What to do instead:

One message per graphic. Pick the single most important thing you want someone to walk away with.

Bigger than you think. If you can read it comfortably at arm’s length on your phone, it’s probably still too small — test it thumbnail-sized, the way it’ll actually appear in-feed.

Cut the details from the image. Date, time, address, extra bullet points — put those in the caption, not crammed into the graphic.

High contrast, minimal fonts. One or two typefaces max, strong contrast between text and background.

Quick test: Shrink your graphic to thumbnail size on your phone. If you can’t read the headline instantly, neither can your audience.

Design for the scroll, not the print.
