"From the ocean depths, they strike!" Humanoids from the Deep premiered in on this day in 1980.

Critical reviews were mostly negative, but the film went on to be a modest financial success for New World Pictures. Directed by Barbara Peeters and Jimmy T. Murakami, the film is known for its low-budget shock value and is a prominent example of Roger Corman-produced horror.

The film was also released, under the different title 'Monster! Humanoids from the Deep'

The movie is about a science project gone wrong, that creates fish-like humanoid creatures, who begin rising from the ocean, looking to spawn with the local women in a small California fishing town. The film also features an early score from James Horner
