𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝’𝐬 2025 𝐆𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞

There’s something about a neighbourhood that keeps its charms intact even as the calendar flips into the busiest shopping season and King William Road is leaning into that feeling with a clear invitation to shop local and thoughtful.

The new "TOGETHER WE SHINE" Gift Guide 2025 is more than a list; it’s a curated map to finding presents that actually mean something, chosen from the street’s eclectic Life and Style stores. ✨

The guide collects unique, carefully considered ideas from boutiques that specialise in everything from artisan homewares and hand-crafted jewellery to sustainable fashion and one-of-a-kind children’s toys.

Rather than pushing mass-market options, the selections celebrate the craftsmanship and stories behind each purchase: the small business owner who knows your name, the maker who explains how an item is made, the thoughtful present that arrives wrapped with care.

For anyone tired of frantic online checking and last-minute deliveries, this guide is a practical prompt to plan a visit, stroll the street, and discover gifts that feel personal.

It’s also a reminder of the ripple effect of choosing local your morning coffee, a conversation with a shop owner, and that carefully chosen present all add up to winter economy and community vitality.

If you’re mapping out gift lists this year, think of King William Road as more than a shopping strip; it’s a place to slow down, ask questions, and find something unexpected.

Tell us which kinds of gifts you’re hunting for this season handmade, eco-friendly, kids’ toys, or something luxe and we’ll keep an ear out for local recommendations. 🛍️

𝐓𝐰𝐨-𝐁𝐢𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 14 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬

The bell above the door at Two-Bit Villains has rung for thousands of conversations, late-night burgers, and battered vinyl records and this week it will sound a little different.

Founder Liam, along with Leigh and Jac, has chosen to step back after 14 years running the Rockabilly-themed vegetarian diner that carved out its own corner of Adelaide’s food scene.

Citing the recent birth of his baby about a month and a half ago and a sense that the business had reached a natural limit, Liam says now is the right time for fresh hands and new ideas.

The founding trio will officially hand over on Sunday, November 16, and new owners Maheep and Tanishka who already run a restaurant down south will take the reins from Monday, November 17.

Two-Bit Villains opened with a clear purpose: to be exciting, fun, approachable and, above all, a safe and comfortable space for everyone, regardless of dietary preference.

That spirit, and the diner’s unique rockabilly edge that set it apart from fine-dining establishments and health-focused cafes, has been central to its 14-year run and customers’ messages of love and nostalgia on social media since the handover announcement made that clear.

Maheep and Tanishka arrive knowing the place they’re inheriting is more than a menu; it’s a community anchor and a tone of hospitality that kept the lights on through tough times like COVID, something the founding team has publicly thanked patrons for again and again.

The new owners have said they’re passionate about keeping that spirit alive and building on what the restaurant already is, not remaking it.

Shop 150, Level One, Adelaide Arcade, SA, 5000.

For regulars and first-timers alike, the coming weeks will be a chance to see how much can be preserved when a new crew takes over: familiar booths, the same inclusive welcome, and hopefully the same cheeky playlists that made Two-Bit Villains feel like a home away from home. 🎸

Change always brings questions: what memory of Two-Bit Villains will you be taking with you? Tell us your favourite dish, the song that always played when you walked in, or a moment from the arcade that still makes you smile and if you’re planning to pop in after November 17, what would you like to see stay the same? ❤️

There’s a quiet but firm line being drawn across South Australia’s economy several of the state’s biggest companies are publicly recommitting to net zero targets even as the state Liberal party tussles over its stance on climate policy.

Argo Investments, BHP, Beach Energy and Flinders Port Holdings have all made it clear they are maintaining their climate commitments, a signal to investors and customers that corporate strategies on emissions aren’t up for last-minute revision.

That steadiness comes as national politics around climate policy have become unusually loud and personal a war of words that shows no sign of cooling. 🔥

Inside the SA Liberal ranks, the debate is louder and messier.

Party figures are preparing for a crucial meeting in Canberra that could define the coalition’s position on emissions and energy policy; columnist Mike Smithson has noted that “derision continues to erupt over a net zero emission target” among some members.

Political commentators are also pointing to speculation about Sussan Ley’s leadership as the coalition finalises its approach, making this more than a policy argument it’s a test of direction and leadership.

For politicians, it’s a moment to decide whether to align with corporate momentum or try to reshape it.

What happens next matters for jobs, investment and how South Australia positions itself in a changing energy landscape.

Will political debate push companies to change course, or will corporate commitments act as a steadying force that shapes policy instead?

Are voters watching corporate signs more closely than party statements when they judge who has credible climate plans?

There’s confidence driving Adelaide these days for the third consecutive year, South Australia has been named the top state for business in the Business Council of Australia’s Regulation Rumble report.

That consistency isn’t a fluke it reflects a package of policy settings that have lowered barriers for employers, made planning clearer and faster, and kept costs competitive for businesses of every size.

From a more generous payroll tax regime to better property and licensing conditions, the state’s strategic approach is showing up in the results. 📈

The report highlights what many local business owners already feel on the ground: a planning system that offers consistency and certainty, competitive tax rates that help both large employers and growing small businesses, and less time lost to needless red tape.

Premier Peter Malinauskas put it plainly: “We are a pro-business Labor Government with a desire to get our state moving,” adding that the outcomes “don’t happen by accident” but because of a stable government and a clear regulatory framework.

The Business Council’s chief executive Bran Black agreed, saying South Australia “shows us that cutting unnecessary red tape and designing efficient regulations is not just good for business it’s good for workers and communities.” It’s worth noting this momentum isn’t confined to regulatory rankings; the state also topped the Housing Industry Association’s Housing Policy Scoreboard, reinforcing a broader pro-investment environment.

What should we, as South Australians, take from this?

For employers and entrepreneurs, the message is that Adelaide and regional SA are increasingly viable places to start, scale and invest. For workers, the promise is a healthier local economy with more jobs and more stable conditions.

For the rest of us, it’s a reminder that well-designed policy not gimmicks can change day-to-day life.

Tell us what’s changed where you live and what you’d like to see next. 🙂

Dreaming of fewer running injuries? Start with better sleep Recreational running carries a high injury risk, particularly for poor sleepers. If you are among the 620 million people who lace up their running shoes on a regular basis, chances are that you’re an early riser. Hopefully, you will have got at least eight hours of good sleep the night before, otherwise your risk of injury skyrockets. That’s the finding from a new study led by Professor Jan de...

New research shows that recreational runners who are poor sleepers have almost double the risk of sustaining an injury.
