Celebrating thirty years of Diamond House this morning with the ever effervescent Director Kim Smith and local member Cheyne Rich MP

The only one of its kind in SA (but part of an international Clubhouse Model) Diamond House is a not-for-profit organisation providing day and group psychosocial rehabilitation programs and NDIS support for individuals and most importantly a welcoming, recovery-focused environment where members can build confidence and socialize.

This Saturday we rally for community accountability โ€“ bringing the bloom to the polluters. With the labor government just elected, making the bloom front and centre is more important than ever.

We will gather at the top of Tarntanyangga/Victoria Square at 10:30am. The March departs at 10:40am and finishes at Santos HQ. Come dressed for the beach, wetsuits, rashies, boogie boards, fishing rods, or just simply in blue.

Why we need you there:

Labor has won but elections are promises, not outcomes. The next few weeks are a critical time to show the re-elected government what the community expects. We can't let the bloom get swept under the rug this early on in a new term. The politicians needs to hear that we care now.
Nature, including action on the Algal Bloom, was not a priority in Labourโ€™s election promises - it was only 1% of their funding commitments. The first days of a new term are exactly when communities need to be loudest before priorities get locked in, before the bloom gets filed away as last summer's news.

The votes are in, and while โ€˜we at Pโ€™ may not have secured that eleventh spot in the SA Upper House, our campaign has sparked hope in progress.

I'm filled with calm sense of inner joy and gratitude today for the journey we've shared, particularly with the wonderful and wise Faith Coleman by my side. Six months ago, this election seemed like a stale affair, but by throwing our hat into the ring, we gave voters a genuine progressive alternative and amplified crucial voices in the debate. We championed reason, science, transparency, and decency, and I'm honoured to have played a part in shaping that agenda.

To my incredible staff - Keiran, Joanna, Jamnes, Monti, Michael, and Tina - you've been not just the A Team but the dream team, and I'm bloody humbled to have worked alongside you.

To our tireless volunteers who plastered our pink posters across the state, from Kangaroo Island to Mount Gambier or Ceduna, your efforts made a tangible difference. You staffed pre-poll booths, worked tirelessly on election day, and reminded people of the power of their vote.

To those wise advisors who cautioned me to prioritise my mental health, you were spot on - and I believe we struck a healthy balance. With the right people that was possible.

This campaign may not have ended with the outcome we hoped for, but it's left me invigorated and more convinced than ever that our collective efforts can drive meaningful change. That good people working together is incredibly powerful and positivity is a โ€˜renewableโ€™ resource.

Polls have now closed.

Thank you to every South Australian who took part in our democracy today.

To everyone who supported this campaign โ€” thank you.

To our extraordinary volunteers who showed up at booths across the state โ€” this simply would not have been possible without you.

And to every voter who chose to support an independent voice in Parliament โ€” I am deeply grateful.

Now we wait for the count.
