‼️IMPORTANT UPDATE ‼️

Because of the incredible amount of interest we have received for the ‘Murder, Mushrooms & Media: Unpacking Australia’s Most Talked-About Case,’ we have needed to upsize our venue!

Please note that the event will now take place in Ligertwood 231, which is on the second level of the Ligertwood building (the Adelaide Law School). 📍

Consider coming to AUMA and ‘s coffee and camera crawl, where we will be going on a lil wholesome ol’ walk to some nice coffee spots in the south of the city, and other points of interest, before ending at the central markets. 🌳🎞️

On the walk, please let us know if there are any photos you would like to take, recreate or places you wanna pass by or stop at. If you would like a photo of you taken, also let us know!

One month after the judgment of the murder trial of Erin Patterson made headlines across the world, and .adelaide are bringing you an event which will unpack just how this case grew to become the focal point of national and international conversation — from the prolific media coverage and public speculation, to the complex legal proceedings and broader societal questions about the ethics of fascination with true crime. 🔍

With a panel of respected academics across law, criminology and media, we will delve into the intersections between the criminal justice system, journalism and public perception, exploring how narratives are constructed, contested, and consumed in high-profile criminal cases. 📺🫆

We are so excited for the final one this Thursday! On the 29th at Napier 210 - Panels start at 5:30 with light refreshments being served.

It has been an amazing set of Hot Take panels! We are truly grateful for all the support from students and staff alike 🫶

About the AUMA

Welcome to the Adelaide University Media Association! We’re a group of media students at the University of Adelaide, and we put on events for other media students (and their friends!) Like our page to be updated on events, as well as job, internship and volunteering opportunities! In 2019 we held our first Industry Night, connecting students to real media industry professionals with great success, and we aim to continue this in the future.

For those wishing to be involved in the AUMA, executive positions are decided at the Annual General Meeting, usually held at the start of Semester 1. Anyone wishing to join the committee throughout the year should message this page, there are no sign-up fees. It’s a great opportunity in getting involved on campus, meeting other media students and gaining some volunteer experience!
