Theatre Review: Hamlet the Loneliest – Slingsby, 2026

Watching a No Strings show is always a journey, and a pact between audience and company where we are asked to peel away our layers, accept discomfort and emerge with a sense of connection and question seeking.

Hamlet the Loneliest will long be etched into the collective memories of the sold-out audience, marking another success for this essential company.

Review: The Cinematic Sinners presents Moulin Rouge – Nineteen Ten, 2026

‘The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.‘ It’s the iconic catch cry of Moulin Rouge, and Cinematic Sinners embraced that sentiment and then some, by making us feel all of our feelings and giving us a show with all the excess, spectacle and theatrical abandon the film commands.

Rather than attempting to recreate Baz Luhrmann’s masterpiece, this shadowcast production celebrated it, playing the film on the big screen while a cast of gorgeous burlesque dancers, drag performers, aerialists and fire artists brought key moments to life on stage, creating an immersive experience that was the perfect balance between cinema, cabaret and interactive theatre.

Curated by Ember Rose and Letitia Stitch, the production understood exactly what makes Moulin Rouge the best film of all time, bar none, and the cast captured each moment perfectly.

🎭 ARTS | Patience and Penitentia by Ida Sophia

South Australian artist Ida Sophia is pushing the boundaries of performance art with Patience and Penitentia, a powerful new durational work exploring silence, punishment, power and reconciliation within relationships.

Presented at as part of the 2026 , the work confronts the often-overlooked impact of the "silent treatment" and the emotional toll of exclusion, estrangement and withheld affection. Over 40 days, Ida will undertake an extraordinary 276 hours of live performance, inviting audiences to witness a ritual of endurance, reflection and transformation.

Featuring contributions from more than 40 local women through thousands of rose petals and personal stories, Patience and Penitentia sheds light on the emotional labour, resilience and hope that exist alongside experiences of silence and disconnection.

A thought-provoking and deeply emotional work from one of South Australia's most celebrated contemporary artists.

Cinematic Sinners presents Moulin Rouge gave me more than a tribute to one of cinema's most spectacular musicals. It gifted me a whole body and soul feeling of joy and celebration. One that I have been feeling since I experienced it and one I am certain I will be feeling for a long time to come. Well, at least until their next show
