What are your thoughts on what is, and what isn't classified as VR?
Are you one that believes if it doesn't have motion controls then it isn't actually VR?
How about this then. If I play a PC game on my PC with an Xbox controller, am I still playing it on a PC or has it magically turned into a console?
Because apparently if I play a game in VR without motion controls, it ceases to be VR despite the fact I'm litterally playing it in VR..
Motion controls are a way to control yourself in VR, VR isn't reliant on motion controls. Motion controls help you navigate your way within VR, but so does hand tracking, and so does a keyboard and mouse, and so does a game controller, or a steering wheel, or joystick for flight Sims games that can be played in VR all without the need of motion controls.
I honestly don't know why people are so insistent that if a game doesn't have motion controls it isn't VR, and there's no way you can play a game in VR without them, but Star Wars Squadrons and many other games with VR support beg to differ. And if it isn't first person then it isn't VR, so apparently the hundreds of platformer and other non first person VR games don't exist and are just a figment of everyone's imagination.
I guess those people also believe that PCs didn't exist before mouse's where invented because god forbid having to use just the keyboard to navigate around a PC... Oh and the world is also flat.
If you are inside a game virtually, guess what... You're playing it in VR! Regardless of how you control the game and regardless if its first person or not.
End Rant.
