In the pre-series furore, with England crowing and injury concerns mounting, Australia stayed quiet.

Its response has been an emphatic and quite brilliant Ashes domination. 👏👏👏

Happy Gravy Day ❤️🥳

It's four days before Christmas. The 21st of December.

There's one question on every Australian's lips — who's gonna make the gravy?

Despite being released 27 years ago, Paul Kelly's 1996 song How to Make Gravy remains an Aussie Christmas institution.

Is this South Australia’s biggest wardrobe?👗🎭

We’re excited to welcome the State Theatre Company South Australia to the ABC Adelaide Collinswood building.

With the move, they’ve brought an impressive collection of costumes with them.

ABC Radio Adelaide Mornings presenter Rory McClaren was lucky enough to tour the two floors now occupied by the company—and get a close-up look at this extraordinary collection.

Tune in to Mornings with Rory McClaren 9-11am weekdays in 2026 on 891AM ABC Radio Adelaide or on the ABC listen app: https://bit.ly/AdelaideRadioLive

Not all heroes wear capes 🦸‍♂️

A group of mates rescued a galah trapped in a power pole in northern Western Australia.

One of the men involved, Henry Mickle, shared with ABC News Breakfast’s Nate Byrne how the rescue unfolded.

"They're a bit like Pokémon, you've got to find them all." 🪻

Some native orchids are becoming less commonly sighted as human activity impacts the environment.

South Australia has 162 endemic orchid species, with more than half under threat from development, weeds, herbicides and overgrazing.

Orchid enthusiasts want bushwalkers and developers to be more considerate of protecting orchids and their natural environments.

Elliston retiree Shane Graves is obsessed with native terrestrial orchids and said he was happiest when lying face down in a pile of leaves searching through the lens of his digital SLR camera for undiscovered species in the bush.

"It's that treasure hunt feeling that you get when you're out here," he said.

Have you seen this iconic tree in Clarence Park? 🌳

When resident Gertrude Overbury passed away in 1943, her will ensured this magnificent River Red Gum would never be removed for subdivision.

Today, the 30-foot tree still stands in the middle of Overbury Drive—surrounded by bitumen and facing an uncertain future.

“Trees of this age, when they do begin to decline, you don’t necessarily see that externally,” Troy Sincock, 891 ABC Radio Adelaide, speaking with Leigh Radford.
