This beautiful shot was taken by local nightscape photographer Simon on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula.

"I had one more spot to check out on my way home and while taking a dirt road short cut I finally came across a tree in a canola field," he shared.

"I used my 50mm lens to shoot from the fence line. By now the night was starting to get cold and the moon rise was near."

Fairway to Hell is not a physical golf course, but a world-record attempt by Adelaide’s Damien Rider to run and play 18 holes of golf across the world's longest golf course, a 1,365km stretch of the Nullarbor to raise awareness for mental health.

“Turning 50 I thought why not take up golf. It’s my first round of golf whilst turning 50 and running 3 marathons a day,” Rider told 891 ABC Radio Adelaide Sonya and Jules.

The challenge involves running multiple marathons between holes and will take place across the Nullarbor Plain, from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia to Ceduna in South Australia.

Scientists have questioned the link between the 2022-23 floods and South Australia's ongoing harmful algal bloom, despite the state government listing it as one of the three primary causes.

A Senate inquiry was told the time lag between the two events made it unlikely nutrients from the flood were still present when the bloom emerged.

Eucalypt trail named after botanist Dean Nicolle opens 🌳❤️

A unique partnership between an artist and a botanist has resulted in an old rail corridor in the small South Australian town of Blyth becoming an eucalypt forest.

The 4.4-kilometre signposted botanical trail features more than 2,000 Australian plant species, including 300 varieties of rare eucalypt, many of them almost unheard of in South Australia.

The trail stands as testament to a unique deal between a botanist and a painter — and the forest and friendship it spawned.

The South Australian opposition will introduce a flat 50-cent fare across the metropolitan public transport network if it wins government at the March 2026 state election.

The policy, which the Liberals said would cost taxpayers $240 million over four years, would also extend to bus services in regional areas.

This new exhibition is leaving people shell-shocked! 🐚😯

Thousands of shells of all different sizes, shapes and colours are now on display at the Beachport Museum after being donated by the local Downs and Grosser families.

So far the display has been very popular, but volunteers are still working at getting more on show in the museum.

The deadly honey bee parasite, varroa mite, was detected in South Australia for the first time earlier this month.

Native bees cannot be hosts of varroa mite, according to the CSIRO. And while not all native species pollinate agricultural crops, the presence of native wildflowers contributes to higher biodiversity.

Loxton-based Riverland Native Plants owner, Tim Field, said planting multiple native varieties in different sizes and providing accessible drinking water was "a good place to start" in boosting native bee populations.
