Hankin Redden Hankin Redden Publications publishes stories about people and their families. We want to tell the stories that others see as not important enough to tell.

We believe that Everybody Matters – without exception. Hankin Redden Publications was established by John Hankin and his wife Margaret Redden in 2021. In July 2020, Margaret was diagnosed with an untreatable, incurable cancer called ampullar cancer and her doctors expected her to be dead by Christmas 2020. Margaret worked for 30 years as a cancer nurse, but had never heard of ampullar cancer befor

The ampullar is a point where the pancreatic duct forms a T junction with the common bile duct. Cancer at this location blocks the digestive system. Death is normally swift. Margaret proved the medical forecasts were wrong

Her secret to defying death was simple. Margaret radiated LOVE and Hankin Redden Publications has been built on Margaret’s love.

How was a company created against this backdrop of sorrow and pain? Hankin Redden was created to publish two separate books John wrote while Margaret remained alive, proving the medical forecasts were wrong.

This is a difficult post to share, but an honest one.

In this blog, I reflect on Margaret, the people she trusted, and what unfolded in the years before her passing. It is a mix of love, memory, and some hard truths that are not easy to revisit.

At its heart, this is about Margaret. The life she lived, the joy she brought, and the photos of those who betrayed her.

Would you say the toughest part of a trip is the beginning?

The flights, delays, hours sitting down in economy. Time wasted because of weather.

Have you ever walked through a place which experienced so much sorrow?

I have, in the Falklands Island. Wireless Ridge was one of them. A place that saw a battle that defined a country's identity. Read more here in my latest blog.

Abandoned, rusty Argentine cannon left on top of Wireless Ridge, outside Stanley.  I took this photo on 11 February 2026.  A ferocious and bloody battle was fought here to liberate the Falkland Islands from Argentina.
