The 2025 SA Women's Keelboat Regatta is in the books – and what an amazing weekend it was!

We had a great mix of weather conditions that gave sailors plenty of opportunities, as well as great friendship and camaraderie off the water – which is what SAWKR has become so well known for.

After four successful years, SAWKR is going from strength to strength, and we cannot wait for this event to keep growing again in 2026.

What an incredible display of colour on the final day of racing at Cowes Week 2025, with all the fleets finishing outside the RYS in full view of the public!

The penultimate day here at Cowes Week saw the breeze return. And with IRC 0, 1, 2 and many of the other big boats starting right outside the Royal Ocean Racing Club on the RYA Startline, it was a brilliant spectacle for the Cowes Week crowd. The smaller boats headed East today and with some tide against wind, it was again a game of snakes and ladders, particularly in the Etchells fleet where Tango, skippered by Chris Hampton, found themselves OCS at the start, having to fight back over the 12 nautical mile course, finishing 3rd to the line, but 7th after their time penalty.

The 4th day of racing at Cowes Week was back to being light and shifty, and at times painfully slow. The Etchells and Sports boats had to work tirelessly over a 14 nautical mile course, fighting tide against breeze at times that literally saw them sailing backwards, narrowly missing marks.

After racing was cancelled the day before thanks to a super heavy forecast, Day 3 of Cowes Week was much more manageable, albeit still pretty breezy. But with a bit of sunshine, the Solent lit up with 500 boats as far as the eye could see.

Day 2 of Cowes Week came with plenty of breeze and lots of action around the Solent. The Cape 31 fleet headed East of Cowes for their course racing, scoring some slightly easier seastate than the rest of the fleets starting in front of the harbour. There were blown kites and Capes hooked up on marks, but the racing was tight and exciting.

Day 1 of Cowes Week 2025 was light and very shifty, at times with boats within boatlengths of each other on a reach while others were on the beat. But the sun was out and so were the smiles, as more than 500 boats filled the Solent with colour for one of the oldest sailing regattas on Earth.
