Hobbledehoy

Hobbledehoy Recordings from exceptional artists Committed through a considered approach to quality, respect and individuality.

We proudly represent recordings from forward-thinkers including Sophie Hutchings, Caspian, Deafcult, and more. From day one, the focus has been on providing forward-thinking artists with a collaborative partner sharing their vision, helping them build equity and retain ownership of their work. Working with only a small group of artists allows us to focus on the finer details, affording the artist freedom and room to develop — on their own terms.

A small appreciation post for the humble compact disc.

Holly Throsby’s Holly Throsby Normal Magic, in all its physical glory. A beautiful record, right down to the little details. Digipak with 16 page book.

Next up, Holly and her excellent band take these songs out into the world, with the album tour kicking off on 31 October.

Out today! DEAFCULT All My Friends Are Leaving.

Two songs, one lovely 7” record… and another chapter with a band we’re very fond of.

Hope you enjoy this one as much as we do. ❤️

Twenty years of Hobble!

A huge thanks to DEAFCULT Luke Howard Fourteen Nights At Sea The Remotes and The Old Bar for keeping it weird and special.

To everyone that came along, all the artists and friends over the years, thank you. Here’s to whatever happens next. ❤️

Twenty years of Hobbledehoy, somehow.

We’re marking it at The Old Bar with four current artists who each represent a different part of the label’s story:

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about twenty years lately, but mostly I’m just very grateful that the label is still here, still releasing records, and still surrounded by people who care about strange and beautiful music 😊

If Hobbledehoy has meant something to you, I’d love to see you there.

Holly Throsby is taking Normal Magic on the road.

What a privilege watching this record move from something quietly taking shape into an album now finding its way into people’s lives! Next comes the part where the songs get to change again... in front of people, with an exceptional band.

Holly will be joined by Bree van Reyk on drums and Laura Jean on bass for a run of shows through Melbourne, Brisbane, Brunswick Heads, Sydney and Thirroul this October and November.

Thirroul is already sold out.
