ROCK MOVES
with Julie Reynolds

TUES & THURS 2PM

This Week:
Get ready for a wild one! We’re joined by Kane Dennelly from 19 Twenty — one of the most energetic, rowdy, and downright fun bands tearing up stages across Australia.

If you’ve ever seen them live, you’ll know exactly what I mean — Johnny on the upright bass, Jeremy driving it home on drums, and Kane leading the charge like a bluesy freight train.

We chat about the chaos and charm of life on the road, the tenth anniversary of their fan favourite HIPS, and how sometimes when everything goes wrong — like losing your instruments at Mundi Mundi — the show still turns out, oh’ so right!.

It’s loud, it’s loose, and it’s full of heart. That’s Kane Dennelly and 19 Twenty, this week on Rock Moves.

Bob “Bongo” Starkie was the charismatic guitarist who helped shape the sound and spirit of Skyhooks, one of Australia’s most influential rock bands.

His work powered classics like “Horror Movie,” “Ego Is Not a Dirty Word,” and “Women in Uniform,” helping Skyhooks redefine Australian rock in the 1970s.

Starkie stayed true to live music, performing widely and later leading Bob Starkie’s Skyhooks Show, keeping the band’s legacy alive for new generations.

He passed away on 29 November 2025, prompting heartfelt tributes across the country.

MON 2:00PM‬ & FRI 10:30PM

This week:
We explore the remarkable story of Gladys Knight & the Pips — and shine a long-overdue light on William Guest, the quietly brilliant harmony singer whose smooth vocals helped define the group’s timeless style.

We trace the creative explosion that led to unforgettable classics like “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” and “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me.”

We also look at his later-life dedication to mentoring young artists and supporting music education — a reminder that his influence didn’t end when the spotlight dimmed.

TUES & THURS 2PM

This Week:
Brett Wood may not be a household name, but his guitar work is instantly recognizable.

For two decades, he’s been Pete Murray’s trusted guitarist and musical right-hand man.

When he isn’t touring with Pete, Brett has powered through stages with Electric Mary and most recently joined Jon Stevens in New Zealand, proving he’s no stranger to big guitars and massive crowds.

Now, Brett is carving his own path with a couple of singles already out—“Eyes” and “Real Piece of Work”.

Today, we’ll spotlight those new tunes while weaving in tracks from the legendary bands and musicians he’s connected with over the years.

MON 2:00PM‬ & FRI 10:30PM

This week:
Jimmy Cliff (1944–2025) was one of the true giants of reggae—an artist whose voice, charisma and message helped carry Jamaican music across the world.

His songs “Wonderful World, Beautiful People”, “Vietnam” and “Many Rivers to Cross” positioned him as both a musical trailblazer and a socially conscious storyteller.

He collaborated with artists from the Rolling Stones to Annie Lennox, released more than 30 albums, and earned major honours including induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Jamaica’s Order of Merit.

Jimmy Cliff passed away on Nov 24 2025, leaving behind a towering legacy.

ROCK MOVES with Julie Reynolds

TUES & THURS 2PM

This Week:
When you talk about people who’ve truly lived inside music—the heart of it, the craft, the culture, the stories—Sean Sennett sits right at the epicenter.

As the former owner of Brisbane’s street magazine (Time Off) he’s interviewed Bowie, McCartney, Springsteen… and that’s just the A-list name-drop appetizer.

But Sean isn’t just the one asking the questions; he’s in the arena too.

He has recorded with Steve Kilbey from The Church and Kate Ceberano, and released multiple albums with Midnight Oil’s Rob Hirst, including their latest brilliant collaboration, “Born Electric”

A songwriter, musician, podcaster, thinker, and one of the most respected voices in Australian music storytelling.

Today on Rock Moves, we go deeper than the headlines. We go back to the records that lit the spark, the moments that forged the path, the doors that opened—and the ones that had to be pushed open.

Clever, honest, generous, Sean Sennett is fast becoming one of my favorites. I’m sure you’ll enjoy this chat too.
