‘Making the time’. It’s such a huge theme for the people I work with - and honestly, it’s one I’m still working on myself.
Because in truth, we often end up guiding others through the very things we’re navigating too. And ’making the time’ is one of those deeply layered, life-meets-business, learning to put yourself (or your business first) and wellbeing truths I come back to again and again.
It shows up in how we make space to tell our stories. How we carve out time to show up on socials, consistently and with intention. And how we stop seeing these tasks as ‘extra’ and start treating them as essential, core business work.
But making the time also means something else, it means stepping away, switching off, and letting life - not just work - take up space too.
Over the past few years, I’ve been getting better and better at learning to allow myself time off.
Time with myself. Time to be. Time with the people most dear.
As a mum of teenage boys, I’ve also noticed my role shifting as they grow - not disappearing, but becoming less hands-on in the day to day. So this year, I started something new: the annual 1:1 mother-son trip.
One trip a year, just the two of us. Somewhere (within reason!) of their choosing.
Bryn chose Clare, a nod to his growing interest in wine and artisan beverages, and his weekend job at our Felt neighbour, .
Cal chose Sydney, to see his Grandad, his uncles and aunt, and of course, to hit up Haymarket for dumplings 🥟
The only rule? Time together. And by the end of the trip? We book the next one.
Maybe one day that’ll look like overseas adventures but for now, we’re starting simply.
Because at the end of the day, it can be challenging in this busy world we now live in, but making the time for connection is the whole point.
In business and in relationship. You don’t really fully get present in life without it. 💗
