UPDATE: 5:51pm - Firefighters have got the upperhand throughout the afternoon and the fire has been downgrades to advice level.

Update: 5:45pm - Due to a reduced threat, the fire has now been downgraded to an Advice alert level. Those in the vicinity should continue to monitor conditions and stay up-to-date with the latest information.

Update: 5:28pm - Firefighters are gaining the upper hand on the fire and the threat has reduced. The fire has now been downgraded to a Watch and Act alert level. Those in the area between Redlands Rd and Honour Ave should continue to monitor conditions.

There is a grass fire burning in the the vicinity of Whitehead St, Corowa. The fire is burning in a easterly direction under westerly winds towards Honour Ave.

If you are to the north of Corowa, in the area north of Redlands Rd and west of Honour Ave, you are in danger. Seek shelter now, or as the fire approaches. It is too late to leave.

The Severe Weather Warning for alpine areas including Falls Creek, Omeo, Mount Hotham and Mount Buller has been updated.
- Destructive wind gusts are no longer forecast in this area.
- Damaging wind gusts averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 100 km/h are still likely this afternoon.

You can now return to normal activity as the threat is reduced. Be aware of any hazards that may still exist, such as debris , damaged buildings, trees down and fallen power lines.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for Alpine areas including Falls Creek, Omeo, Mount Hotham and Mount Buller.
- Damaging to locally destructive winds, averaging 60 to 80 km/h with peak gusts of 110 km/h are likely through this morning and afternoon.
- Winds may reach 120-130km/h with shower or thunderstorm activity.
- A 128 km/h gust was recorded at Falls Creek at 11:47am.
- This thunderstorm activity is likely to occur from now, 12:50pm.

If you are located in alpine areas including Falls Creek, Omeo, Mount Hotham and Mount Buller, you are in danger. You should immediately move indoors and shelter to stay safe.

Since September 1st 2005, 2AY has been a part of the ACE Radio Network. ACE is a family owned company that has been a part of regional radio since 1984 and is a firm believer inregional radio as a vital part of the local community.2AY has always had a strong commitment to the local region with sponsorship and donations of advertising totalling more than a quarter of a million dollars each year in radio advertising to the numerous community service groups and organisations in our broadcast region. Additionally, 2AY has a strong working relationship with both Albury and Wodonga councils, Destination Albury Wodonga, Albury Wodonga Businesses and as such is a major supporter of many events organised by the above parties. 2AY's format of News, Talk & Sport allows us the benefit of being able to cover all the major events as they happen, with the added resources of 3AW & 2UE. Our local news service is the only local commercial radio broadcasting updated local news 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Our local news team is the first point of contact for any and all events happening in and around the 2AY broadcast region. In short, 2AY has been a vital part of the region's media for over 80 years and with the event of new ownership in recent times, the station is fast becoming the preferred station of an entire new demographic of people wishing to be informed and entertained.
