**Algal Bloom Update from the Council Meeting Tonight**
🌊The City of Onkaparinga has 31 kilometres of coastline. Our identity, tourism economy, and local way of life are tied to the health of our marine environments—from O'Sullivan's Beach to Sellicks Beach
🤝This is an opportunity for the City of Onkaparinga to lead—not take over—but lead.
✅️ Our community is already stepping up. You are counting plankton samples, collecting data, and seeking solutions. It is our role to amplify that effort, support where we can, and help drive a coordinated response.
😪 Over 8,000 animals from around 390 species have been impacted by the algal bloom. Thousands more have likely perished offshore.
🙏 Thank you to everyone who has been reaching out. I have heard you! I raised this in urgent business and it was supported by the chamber.
