This year’s NAIDOC theme “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy” speaks directly to our work at CAAMA.

Across the NT, young Aboriginal people are already stepping into leadership, shaping the stories being told, and imagining bold futures for their communities.

We are proud to support young people across the Central Desert, including at remote schools in our network, to build communication skills, spark curiosity, and open pathways to work.

Our growing team of young First Nations broadcasters and producers are using radio and storytelling as powerful vehicles for change.

At CAAMA, we don’t just want to celebrate the next generation — we invest in it. This means meaningful opportunities, hands-on training, and platforms for young First Nations people to speak, and lead, with confidence.

Did you know only 1 in 3 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples are doing their free bowel screening kit?

Bowel Cancer can appear with no symptoms, but almost all bowel cancers can be successfully treated if found early.

To stay healthy and strong for you and your family, it's important to screen for Bowel Cancer every two years from age 45.

Make sure your address is correct with Medicare and complete the screening kit!"

Our Story

The Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) began operations in 1980 and was the first Aboriginal group to be allocated a broadcasting license. The Aboriginal people of Central Australia own CAAMA through an association regulated under the Incorporations Act , and its objectives focus on the social, cultural and economic advancement of Aboriginal peoples. It has a clear mandate to promote Aboriginal culture, language, dance, and music while generating economic benefits in the form of training, employment and income generation. CAAMA produces media products that engenders pride in Aboriginal culture, while informing and educating the wider community of the richness and diversity of the Aboriginal peoples of Australia.
