Five popular episodes of the children's TV show Bluey have been translated into Yolŋu Matha, the First Nations language of Northeast Arnhem Land. 🎉

The episodes The Beach, The Creek, Sleepytime, Grandad and Rug Island were chosen for their strong themes of family, culture and connection to Country.

This year’s partnership brings together a powerful group of organisations working with a shared purpose:

🎙️ Commentary support from Teabba - Top End Aboriginal Bush Broadcasting Association, helping bring live coverage, voices, and storytelling from community events to wider audiences. You're deadly 🖤 💛 ❤️

🤝🏽 An innovative partnership with Anglicare NT enabling stronger community engagement and support around media delivery and participation. This allowed Tangentyere Council's Step Up Respect campaign and TEAABA's promotional campaign to be broadcast to the Barunga audience and audiences at home. 🙏🏽

Together, this collaboration was about strengthening connection, visibility, and pride ✊🏽

It’s a strong example of what happens when training, community media, and service organisations work together with a shared commitment to First Nations-led storytelling and opportunity.

To ensure we can properly mark this significant milestone, the 2026 National NAIDOC Awards and 50-Year Celebration will now be held on 15 August 2026 in Mparntwe (Alice Springs).

NAIDOC Week 2026 will continue as planned, with finalists announced during NAIDOC Week.

We look forward to coming together in August to celebrate 50 Years of Deadly and recognise the incredible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who continue to shape our communities and our nation.
