It’s been some time now since the community lost one of its most loved members, Audrey Bartlett, but for many, her presence is still deeply felt.
Audrey passed away in August 2024, leaving behind a community full of people who still speak of her with warmth, admiration and a fair bit of heartbreak.
She wasn’t just another familiar face – she was the kind of person who gave her time freely, showed up for others, and made people feel genuinely valued.
In the days following her passing, the outpouring of love said it all.
She was described as “an incredibly special and much loved member of our community” and someone whose cheer and enthusiasm were “legendary.”
Others remembered her as a “lovely lady who was always willing to help everyone,” the sort of person you could rely on without even having to ask.
Friends and colleagues spoke about working alongside her, sharing everyday moments that now mean even more in hindsight.
There were memories of netball days, of neighbourly chats, of simple kindnesses that stuck.
One tribute called her “a beautiful soul,” while another reflected on how she “fought long and hard with great dignity” – a quiet strength that clearly left an impression on many.
And then there was her smile… mentioned again and again. The kind of smile people don’t forget in a hurry.
Even now, months on, it’s clear Audrey hasn’t been forgotten – not even close. She is still missed, still talked about, and still very much part of the community she gave so much to.
