Last weekend turned into an emotional rollercoaster for one local dog owner after his beloved Bull Terrier, Rose, went missing.

A two-year-old girl who loves people and other dogs, Rose vanished near Possum Gully Road in Amherst on Saturday afternoon.

Her owner searched everywhere, put the word out online, and was met with a wave of support from the community.

Then, early Sunday morning, something incredible happened.

On his third check down one of the old mine shafts nearby, there she was – Rose – standing there, staring straight back up at him.

She was fine. No injuries, just excited, wagging her tail and ready to get the hell out.

A massive thank you went out to everyone who offered help, kind words, and support.

Rose is back home, safe and sound – and her owner couldn’t be more relieved.

A bittersweet chapter of Adelaide Lead’s history has been lovingly captured in a striking new mural that now graces the wall of the town’s old school building, just west of Maryborough! 🎨

Titled 'The Day They Walked Away,' the artwork is a heartfelt nod to the moment when the local children had to say goodbye to their beloved school for good. :'(

Renowned local artist Patricia Walsh poured her heart and soul into the piece, which depicts three students – Frank Martin, Joy Martin and Colin Bartlett – and their loyal old dog Rusty, turning away from the school they once knew as home. 🏫

The mural marks the school's closure in 1954, nearly a century after it first opened its doors in 1863. “It’s a tribute to all the children who passed through here, and to the locals who’ve cared for this place ever since,” noted Patricia. ❤️

While the painting itself took around 60 hours to complete, preparation took nearly a week, with multiple painting techniques used to bring out the finer details. 🖌️

Though the school may have closed its doors long ago, thanks to this mural and the dedication of the Adelaide Lead community, its spirit will linger on. ☺️
