It started with a conversation with my friend

Me: “I think I want to start putting myself out there more…keynotes, media, social commentating, talking on the things that matter.”

Five minutes later, I get a text:
“You’re on 3AW tomorrow at 1:30pm to talk about the social media ban.”

Cool, cool, no pressure.

Today I had the absolute pleasure of joining Grubby and Sarah Maree live on air at to chat about the upcoming social media ban and its wider impact.

I’ve posted a short snippet of our convo, where we discussed a number of different issues and topics. There’s a lot missing as I couldn’t fit the full thing into this video!

Jade is entering the Big Brother house…
Well, not technically. But she is entering Big Brother land because she’s making the big move to QUEENSLAND!

When she first told me, I went through the five stages of grief in 30 seconds.

Starting with the business 3 years ago, I told her she was never allowed to leave me, and technically, she’s not leaving… she’s just moving 2,000km away.

And while I’m still processing, this move is a win for Queensland businesses because The Social Secret is officially coming to the Gold Coast and Brisbane!

From November, we’re offering ongoing Reel Shoots in QLD. Same strategy, same creative brain, same social-first magic… just with more humidity.

Jade’s still part of the team, still bringing the 🔥, just now with a bit more SPF.

📸 Me. Forty-six. Camera in one hand, phone in the other. And sometimes… holding onto the thought: Do I really belong here?

This industry is full of twenty-somethings born knowing how to nail a trending sound before they could drive. And then there’s me with my 90s playlist and memories of dial-up internet.

People might think: She’s too old for this.
Sometimes… I think that too.

But here’s what I’ve got that’s hard to Google:
▪️Decades of corporate experience that shape how I think, solve problems, and understand why consumers buy.
▪️The ability to pair creativity and strategy, so the fun content actually works.
▪️Patience, resilience, and the perspective that comes from having lived.
▪️I’ve been the 20-something…I just bring 26 more years of experience with me. 😉

I’m not here to compete with younger talent.
I’m here to mix the boldness of now with the wisdom of before.

Because age doesn’t make you irrelevant.
It makes you dangerous.

Hard things I’ve learnt in 8 years of business:

1️⃣ “Let’s catch up for coffee” is often business code for “Let’s see if I can get some free advice.”

2️⃣ Unfortunately, some people will smile to your face and talk about you behind your back. This is unavoidable. It will happen.

3️⃣ You don’t need to make a million friends in business. You need your people…the ones who cheer loudly, share your wins and have your best interests at heart.

4️⃣ Not everyone is your competition. Sometimes the people in your industry can be your biggest assets.

5️⃣ The ones who shout the loudest about “supporting women in business” aren’t always clapping for you.

6️⃣ When you question everything you’ve done, just stop and remind yourself how far you’ve come. Seriously. Go look at old content. Cringe a little. Then pat yourself on the back.

Business has been one of the most rewarding, challenging, wildly fulfilling things I’ve ever done. It’s taught me how to be resilient, how to trust my gut, and how to stop shrinking myself to make other people comfortable.

You don’t need to be everywhere. You don’t need a million connections or curated acquaintances. You need your people. The real ones.

“You need to work on your business, not in it.”
Cool. But what if working in it is the part that lights me up?

I’ve worked with a fair few business coaches over the years and almost all of them say the same thing. Step back. Delegate. Be the visionary. Focus on strategy. I get it. I really do.

But here’s my truth:
I like being in it.
I love the doing, the creating, the getting my hands dirty.
That’s the part that keeps me connected to my clients, my creativity, and my whole reason for doing this in the first place.

Yes, I know the high-level work matters. And yes, there’s always a place for zooming out.
But let’s stop pretending there’s one “right” way to run a business.

Maybe for you, like me, it’s not about building an empire from a distance. Maybe it’s about staying close to the work you actually enjoy because that’s what fills your cup.

Just something to think about….You don’t have to run your business like anyone else’s.
