Marc Márquez’s spare bike in the pit lane featured a fascinating piece of hidden technology. The bike was equipped with Ducati’s version of a mass damper, directly connected to the unsprung part of the motorcycle — a solution designed to improve stability and tire contact under extreme racing conditions. Even more intriguing, a handwritten code was visible on top of the device, likely used as a setup or tuning reference for engineers during quick adjustments.

Take a closer look at this Kalex Moto2 swingarm. Those red dots on the rear fender aren’t just for show — they’re 2D infrared temperature sensors tracking the tire’s surface temperature in real time. This data is combined with air pressure and internal temperature sensors inside the rim, giving engineers a complete picture of tire behavior.
The new Pirelli tires have clearly improved racing performance and battles on track, but they are also extremely sensitive to setup, making precision and data analysis more important than ever.

Manu González reflects on his impressive 2025 season, finishing as runner-up and fighting hard for the championship. He revealed that mid-season talks with both Honda and Yamaha nearly opened the door for a move up to MotoGP, but the opportunity didn’t materialize. González explained how competitive Moto2 is and why consistency and wins are key to earning a MotoGP seat. He also tested a TrackHouse Aprilia MotoGP bike at Aragón, and found it surprisingly more intuitive than Moto2 machinery. For now, he’s focused on another strong season in Moto2 and believes more openings next year could help his MotoGP dream come true.

Exciting news for sportbike fans! A new four-cylinder sport motorcycle from Cyclone (Zongshen) is emerging as a potential 2026 release, aiming to fill a gap left by larger brands moving away from multi-cylinder engines in the mid-range segment. Design filings suggest the Cyclone RC700 will feature a parallel four-cylinder engine around 700 cc — likely near 100 HP — bringing back the high-revving character many riders miss in today’s twin-cylinder bikes. The design also shows a MotoGP-inspired frame, advanced brakes and suspension, and aggressive aerodynamics that could make it a strong competitor if homologated for the European market.

Jorge Martín Believes He Could Have Fought Marc Márquez on Ducati

MotoGP World Champion Jorge Martín has reflected on his decision to leave Ducati for Aprilia, saying that if he had stayed with Ducati — especially given the opportunity to remain on competitive machinery — he might have been able to battle Marc Márquez for the title. Martín acknowledged that Márquez’s performance this season has been extraordinary, but believes that with another year on familiar Ducati equipment, he could have put up a strong fight. He also praised Márquez as a fierce competitor who pushes others to improve, and said that racing against him would make him a better rider.

The end of 2025 marks the farewell of three iconic motorcycles from the European market due to stricter Euro 5+ emissions rules and production cost changes. First, the legendary Yamaha YZF-R1 will stop being sold as a street-legal model after 27 years, transitioning to track-only “R1 Race” versions. Next, the beautiful Triumph Thruxton RS café racer ends production with a special final edition as Triumph shifts focus to new models. Finally, the beloved Suzuki SV650 — a favourite beginner bike for nearly 25 years — is discontinued in favour of Suzuki’s new parallel-twin-engine lineup. These three bikes have each made a lasting impact on riders and the motorcycle world.

Marco Melandri has shared his thoughts on Toprak Razgatlioglu’s move to MotoGP with Yamaha’s Pramac team in 2026. Melandri believes Toprak’s exceptional talent and bike control will see him grow throughout his rookie season and set up a strong challenge for Fabio Quartararo by 2027, especially with the new rule changes and arrival of Pirelli tires. Melandri expects Toprak to be “annoying Quartararo on track” as both fight to be the best Yamaha rider.
Melandri also touched on the challenges Yamaha faces with its new V4 engine and how this could impact Quartararo’s future with the team. Rumours suggest Quartararo’s continuation with Yamaha beyond 2026 is uncertain, making the Toprak vs. Quartararo rivalry even more intriguing.
