The Draft Resistor

The Draft Resistor "The Draft Resistor" is a feature film currently in production. Shooting began in March 2013 in Ballarat. Canberra, 1971.

Starring David Gourley, Nina Lim, Robert McGuinness, Marcus McKenzie, Peter Flaherty and Louise Purcell. A time of political and social upheaval. Adam is a draft resistor, choosing to abandon his teaching course and hide out in a lakeside caravan park rather than participating in the Vietnam War, but he cannot resist the temptation to attend the local demonstrations against war and racism. e meeting with Rose, the leader of the university’s women’s liberation group, indirectly leads to him being imprisoned. Pat, an aboriginal activist, is campaigning against racism when he meets Cecilia, a philosophy student, and they form a valuable friendship. Pat’s involvement in the land rights demonstration outside Parliament House helps bring down the conservative government. As a result of Labor’s win, Adam is released from prison, but it is Pat who gets the blame when Adam is attacked by Marcus, a rival for Rose’s love, shortly after his release.

Here is our new imdb page. A big thank you to Tony Markulin for setting it up. He changed the title to "The Activists" which I think is great. He also made imdb profiles for most of the cast; if you click on your name you'll see your profile and you can add a photo etc. If yours isn't on there yet it's in the way. I will add the crew members' names as well. More news: I have now entered the film into the Byron Bay International Film Festival, as well as Revelations Film Festival in Perth (it's where hippy films get shown I guess!)

Hi Everyone, Tom Robinson finished the sound editing today. He did a great job, and I've entered the film into a film festival in Perth!
In a few weeks I'll have a party at my place in Melton, on a Sunday so you can all come and have a look at the finished film. Stay posted for more details!
