❤️ Women’s heart health needs more attention

Ronda Hazell’s discovery of being diagnosed with an ascending aortic aneurysm in June 2024—a serious condition that can lead to rupture or dissection—she faced the daunting task of finding a cardiologist who could provide the care and clarity she
needed.

That search wasn’t easy, but it led her to the support that now fuels Ronda’s womens heart health advocacy while she is seeks more information about her own heart condition.

Heart disease will affect women in different ways, depending on which disease they have, as well as their symptoms.

Through her initiative , Ronda is using her passion for
sewing to raise awareness about heart disease, especially among women.

Ronda encourages everyone to sew/create heart-themed aspects to their projects and share them online. This is a positive and powerful message about discussing women’s heart health.

By speaking openly about her diagnosis and the challenges of accessing proper care, Ronda is helping women to recognise symptoms, seek medical advice, and feel less alone. gave Ronda the name of a cardiologist she now relies on for her ongoing heart care.

This is Ronda’s second time on the podcast for so I’m so glad Ronda was willing to be on the podcast again.

Right now Christine lives in Valencia Spain and has access to existing clothes and linens she upcycles into clothes.

It’s hard to resist the embroidered linens that are part of the local culture.

Christine’s first career was in fashion and she provides sewists with help sewing better fitted clothes through her Fit Clinics.

This Freya blouse using Designer Stitch patterns uses fabric from Minerva's Bower. Again I used the shoulder ruffles for a softer look. The buttons were from my stash so this all worked out really well. A friend who sews gave me some help making sure the fit was good and the length worked on me. I love how this blouse is designed for embroidered fabric with a curved selvedge....

Freya blouse by Designer Stitch patterns I sewed this white version and it feels flirty, fun, and frivolous. The functional V-neck is my favorite silhouette. Ruffles? My choice was the shoulderline ruffles. Both ruffle choices—neckline and/or shoulderline—draw the eyeline up. The fun gathered ruffles are really the key to the Freya, adding softness that frames the face beautifully. I chose to add the ruffles at the shoulders. The armhole is finished with the easiest binding technique so no facings needed! This white version goes with everything!

What I found out was I needed ✅ Add a sway back adjustment for better shaping. ✅ Remove the neckline width to not show what’s underneath. ✅ Find a way to make the neckline stable....
