Spearfishing Nannygai in Queensland

I managed to smack some absolutely delicious fish this trip with a number of Personal Bests and firsts. The drive and the jet ski sends were absolutely worth it and i cant wait to share with everyone the experience.

But this fish is my first ever Large Mouth Nannygai and im very grateful to .adventures for putting them on the target list for the last day of diving in Queensland and being an awesome dive buddy to get onto these fish. These guys sit deep and we were diving to 34m chasing these fish. To see my first proper one and get the shot into him was the most stoke ive felt spearfishing in years. First Dive Spearfishing QLD

I cannot express how epic the first dive of the trip was. 30m vis, a solid ride out on the ski but more than worth it. We had been waiting for conditions like this to come up and here they are. Youll have to wait for the full video but check these snaps.

Blackspot Tuskfish

It wouldnt be a trip to Queensland with smacking a tasty Tusky, these fish go 10/10 for me they are sensational eating and im stoked to have landed one. The NEW AIMRITE X WETMAMMAL ROLLER gets it done! I seriously hope i got this on film such a fast paced hunt and shot 💦🐟

Check the colours on this fish too i cant wait to cook this guy up! Ive got to say heading out spearfishing on the Explorer Pro is a ton of fun island hopping. I definitely need more of this in my life.

Also frothin the Anchorman Dive Flag for the ski. It works a treat keeping us nice and visible to other boaties when we are in the water.

We did it! The prize of the whole trip to Victoria was to spear a Bluefin Tuna and after a rollercoaster of emotions we got it done! Even managed to bag a couple of snapper too!

From Tuna Chasing to Scallop Feasting – Our Wildest Day Yet in Melbourne! 🐟🍝

We set out on the Nauti Gal chasing Southern Bluefin Tuna off the coast of Melbourne, but disaster struck early... Our esky and spearguns snapped clean off the back of the jetski and vanished into the deep.

Instead of calling it a day, we flipped the script. We jumped in to explore the local reef and were stoked to find some Weedy Seadragons—one of Victoria’s most iconic and rare marine creatures. Then it was onto scallop diving and a fresh catch-and-cook pasta session that absolutely hit the spot.

This episode is a reminder: sometimes the best adventures happen when things go wrong. 💥🐉🌊

Birthday Dive! WHAT A DAY!

Soo stoked to actually get a quick run out for my birthday and what were we greeted with? 100+ Dolphins jumping all around us and playing in our wake and on the bow of the ski!

Could it get any better? Yep hop in the water and on my 3rd drift of the day a wahoo comes in to sight! My lucky day his unlucky day! Mon got unlucky with her Hoo but we will be chasing these fish again in about a weeks time!

Fantastic conditions for an autumn dive just before the big winds came and stirred it all up. Also seriously rating that poke bowl.

And i dont know if its just this wahoo but holy is it such a clean eating fish! 🐟

First spearfishing Victoria trip comes this Sunday too!! Sorry for the delay moving house was a bigger job than i thought 😅

Spearfishing Kingfish in Sydney after a 16hr night shift! 😮‍💨 🐟
We hit the water completely wrecked from work—but sometimes you’ve just gotta send it! 🤿 In just 1.5 hours, we landed an epic tagged kingfish. My first ever tagged fish!

After the dive, we put the kingie in the fridge for a day and turned it into some fresh kingfish sushi 🍣 and shared the full adventure on YouTube!

Bluefin Tuna Processing 🐟 🍣

I think you can see from the look on my face throughout the process im absolutely stoked! I havent eaten Bluefin Tuna in almost 4 years now which is crazy to think about. But im glad we managed to get it done on the last day of the trip.

When you smack a big beautiful fish like this you really need to spend some time breaking it down and portioning it up. Ive been lazy in the past and it leads to resentment when you fancy a quick fish dish but you then have to thaw out 3kg of fish for a simple small meal. Now i portion everything up and label it.

Some goes to mates, others get labelled with things such as sashimi, smoke me, poke, loin, toro, sear etc etc i do this because with a fish like tuna especially as the get bigger the cuts of meat are far more distinct from each other and lend themselves to certain uncooked or cooked methods.

Ive got some dry ageing in the fridge now as well which i didnt get around to experimenting with the last bluefin Tuna so cheers for the reminder.

All in all the processing from start to finish took about 3hrs with most of that time going into portioning and vac sealing.

Diving Victoria 🐟

Some snaps of some recent dives from the Victoria Trip. Not everything has gone to plan so far but it doesnt matter we have had an absolute blast. Ive really missed exploring this beautiful incredible country we call home.

So far weve managed to bag some Flatties, Snapper, Sweep, Abalone, Scallops and Mussels. Lets see if we can put a bit of tuna on the menu before we return to NSW.

We did have a drama losing the esky and guns which cost us 2 days of diving but with 1 more day up our sleeve and the weather gods playing fair lets get it!

I am absolutely loving my new Aimrite suit too next level comfort with a cool design and its keeping me toastie in these cooler Victorian waters.

Spearfishing Remote Reef in Queensland from a Jetski

After a long hiatus we finally have the Queensland Trip. This trip was going to be seriously epic but unfortunately flu and a sinus infection had other ideas.

Regardless we still got out for an awesome day off diving a remote reef. The ride out took roughly 1hr 45mins straight out into the blue. A trip that you definitely need to carry plenty of fuel for and have the right weather window. Thankfully the weather gods were on our side.

We managed to smack some tasty fish and experience some epic encounters with whales, dolphins, sharks and some awesome reef. It really was an incredible day and cant wait for the next trip.

The originally planned trip will 100% be relived in 2025 with better preparation, the full canopy set up and some nauti jetski modifications.
