The Koondrook and Barham Bridge Newspaper, a vital source of local news for communities across northern Victoria and southern New South Wales since 1909, is facing delivery delays due to the cessation of regional freight services. This disruption stems from broader changes in the regional media landscape, particularly the reduction in publication days for the Shepparton News and Echuca’s Riverine Herald, both operated by McPherson Media Group.

The Shepparton News and Riverine Herald, which are currently daily and tri-weekly papers, respectively, will transition to twice-weekly print editions (Tuesdays and Fridays) starting July 14, 2025. This reduction has altered regional distribution networks, with freight services struggling to maintain consistent delivery schedules for smaller publications, such as the Bridge.

The Bridge, a weekly Thursday publication printed in Wodonga, relies on regional freight to reach its diverse readership across the Murray River region. However, the consolidation of delivery services has led to the termination of key freight days. This will mean that the physical newspaper will be delivered to readers on a Friday starting July 18. We thank our readers for their understanding and continued support.
