*** Bayswood/ Vincentia Opticomm FYI ***

For homes in the stage 1 area of Bayswood the FTA (Free To Air) signal may be received via the fiber service currently provided by Opticomm (formerly Telstra Velocity).Opticomm has recently indicated that it will cease priority support of FTA services from 1st Oct 25 and will cease provision from 1st Feb 26. To continue receiving a FTA signal in the absence of the current service you will need to install an external FTA antenna to pick up the carriers transmitted over the air (from either the Illawarra or Ulladulla transmitters. In most cases the internal cabling already in your house will need little to no modification and the FTA installation can be connected directly to your existing splitter.

Be aware also that all of the FTA networks provide an online presence accessible via a smart TV or streaming device via the internet. Whilst this method of access is not as convenient, it can be an acceptable alternative for some.

***Channel 10 down on South Coast Transmitter***

Just an FYI, Channel 10 South Coast and the associated channels (anything starting with a 5 ) are having issues from the Ulladulla transmitter. This is a wait and see situation and you should NOT re-tune your TV as it will most likely drop the carrier all together or make things worse. If you have re-tuned you need to wait until the signal returns and you then need to re-tune again to allow the carrier to reappear. This issue has been confirmed with Channel 10 themselves over the phone but the repair timeframe is unknown at this point.

Additionally, the issue from the weekend regarding 7 & 9 should now be fixed.

Will hopefully be able to provide updates as the day goes on.

*** Intermittent TV reception issues in Jervis Bay area ***

DEC 2024

Tropospheric or "seasonal" ducting is causing pixelation and dropouts again for anyone with a North facing antenna in and around JB. Worst affected areas are Hyams Beach, Vincentia and Huskisson. Forecast indicates that it'll be pretty hit and miss for TV reception for at least the next 2-3 days. Unfortunately nothing can be done to improve the situation (if it's purely related to ducting) and it's something that we put up with around this time every year when the weather starts to heat up and the conditions are right (wrong 😉).

Included is a pic of the situation around the 26th DEC (The red blotch off the south coast is what is causing us issues).

*** VAST ISSUES ***

We have been out to check on, and received enquiries about some issues with the VAST system (FTA over Satellite). The below post from SatKing pretty much sums it up and it is affecting all decoders in some way. Unfortunately there's not much can be done until the Satellite is fixed.

We are aware of some changes that were made by the satellite operator at 9.30am AEST today 20/12/2024 that have caused some customers to lose access to their channels. All models/brands were affected.

The satellite operator is currently working to rectify the issue. During this time there are a few steps to assist in recovering your channels. Step 1 press the reset button on your STB, if this does not resolve the issue. Step 2 press the menu key and then select settings and right arrow to factory default. Press ok and enter the password 1234, confirm you want to default by pressing ok. After these steps if you are still not seeing your channels. You will need to wait until the satellite operator applies the fix.

Note if you are seeing E50-32 this is nothing to do with the technical issue and you need to check your dish alignment and cabling.

FYI. Pixellation and image breakup on Ch 9.

Channel 9 along with all their affiliated channels are currently offline from the Ulladulla transmitter.
This has been the situation from about 9:30 pm last night and may last for sometime being it's now the weekend and due to technician availability. If you're running off Illawarra or Cambewarra you shouldn't have a problem.

Not cool for the people into their Football 😵‍💫

DON'T RE-TUNE YOUR EQUIPMENT!!!

The signal has issues but will stabilise once they have a fix for the transmitter. If you re-tune whilst they are working on it you may loose the 9 carrier entirely and then need to keep re-tuning to see when it actually comes back.

If you could pass it on it would be appreciated.
