8 December 2023 -This will be my last broadcast in the format - I hope that the information I have provided has helped you gain access to services and activities that support seniors .

2 December 2023 - THE FAMILY CHEMIST

Until I interviewed Marcus Heiner, from the Family Chemist in Bathurst, I really was unaware of the amazing range of support that can be offered to our community members - like people monitoring their aged parents' prescriptions through Med-Advisor, getting a full checkup of prescriptions etc by your chemist to improve your health, access to free chemist items that seniors on a Concession Card should be getting from their doctor by prescription, eg, eye drops, moisturiser, surgical stockings etc. If you're interested, please click on "Marcus" icon below and listen to the interview. 24 November 2023 - Family Chemists have the ability to offer us so much help with their knowledge of scripts, e-scripts, compounds and advice about the prescriptions we're taking. They provide vaccines for almost everything and are the main provider for COVID boosters plus much more.

10 November 2023 - With Christmas approaching, some of our community may need help with INTEREST FREE LOANS, cheaper shopping, a free lunch every day of the week, showers, free use of wifi and computers. All this support is broadcast in my Senior Citizens' Update program today on 2MCE at 10.44 am. There’s a review of the Rural Fire Service advice with help for seniors in fire prone areas to receive free assistance to clear around their houses. My interview today is with April See, from Vivability, about Viva Eats and Cafe Viva - there’s so much going on at the cafe at the back of the Catholic Church and they’ve just won a Business Award. Please tune in and make a comment. Also, there’s info about the Pension Work Bonus, the energy supplement and an outing for the Melbourne Cup.

13 October 2023 - Tune in to Bathurst 92.3 FM, Orange on 94.7 Fm or via 2mce.org to hear today's broadcast. There's a review of Bathurst Community Transport, helping eligible seniors and people with disability obtain transport to get about town or travel to other towns or just socialise on trips.
My interview today is with Brett Taylor about being prepared for the fire season and some tips to help us do that.

29 September 23 - There's been much concern over Bathurst Regional Council's proposed 70% Special Rate Variation (SRV) rate hike. The ratepayers of Bathurst have let their voices be heard via a campaign called "Figure it Out BRC" at a recent rally in Kings Parade. My interview today is with Stuart Pearson who has a lot to tell about just how badly our council is, and has been, run financially. Tune in at 10.45 am and leave a comment.

28 August 2023 - My recent interview with Ingrid Pearson was about the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery Society and how the funds of this society are used to purchase art to add to the gallery's permanent collection. There's an Art Fair commencing 18 November 2023 and there's still time for regional artists to submit artworks for this amazing regional event.

15 August 2023 - PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY
People with disability - and the public, in general - should know about how a Mobile Changing Places Restroom known as a MARVELOO assists people with disability to enable them to attend public functions. Bathurt has a MARVELOO thanks to the efforts of Nick Packham and Vivability who provided this restroom for Bathurst.

4 August 2023 - People with Disability - Senior Citizens' Update program for seniors and people with disability is broadcast today from 10:44 am to 11 am on 2MCE Community Radio and via 2mce.org.
Today's program is a review of the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card and a wonderful interview with Paul Legg about the Marveloo mobile changing rooms that people with disability have access to at public functions.This Marveloo was provided to Bathurst by Nick Packham and Vivability. There's only three in New South Wales - we all need to know of this great advancement in equality for people with disability - maybe for you, your family or a friend. 28 July 2023 - COMMONWEALTH SENIORS HEALTH CARD (CSHC) - Many retirees may not know that the income test threshold for this card either for single people or couples has increased quite dramatically since late 2022 and thousands more retirees are entitled to this card and the associated benefits.

Please click on the CSH CARD below and check if you're eligible for these substantial savings. You may have to click the download arrow in the top, right-hand corner to download this audio.

21 July 23 - Today's program on 2MCE at 10:45 am reviews pensions and part pensions; those seniors over 67 who are still working part time maybe eligible for a part-time pension.
There is information for retirees and self-funded retirees to check if they are eligible for the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC) which saves thousands of dollars a year. Please check if you are eligible for any of these entitlements.
Also, there are activities for seniors in both Bathurst and Orange.

20 July 23 - the Asset Tests have increased for homeowners and non-homeowners to be eligible for either a full or part pension. If you're 67 or over and still working, you can earn just under $1,166 and still be eligible for a part pension and all the associated benefits.
