Landscapes of the Imagination | From the Collection

We’re celebrating 70 years of the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery’s permanent collection, and what a collection it is!

The historic village of Hill End has played an integral role in the careers of hundreds of Australian artists, and of Australian art history, hosting the likes of John Olsen, Russell Drysdale and Donald Murray. Jean Bellette and her husband Peter Haefliger, Margaret Olley, Jeffrey Smart, Brett Whitley and Ben Quilty are just a few examples of the company that has visited the little village for the purpose of inspiration and making.

In 1999, BRAG formalised the Hill End Artist in Residence program, solidifying our relationship to the Hill End art scene.

Landscapes of the Imagination doesn’t only celebrate 70 years of the permanent collection, but it also honours the history of Hill End.

Come in and explore parts of the incredible history of Hill End and our collection.

BRAG is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am-5pm & 10am-2pm on the weekend.
