If you haven’t found your theme song for this summer yet I have the perfect one to groove out to for the rest of the warmer months. Sunset Stroll is the latest release from Queensland band The Peregians and has a perfect laid back vibe for those long days on the beach or wherever you spend your holidays. With a surf pop style reminiscent of the Beach Boys this is one to go out and make some memories with.

Enjoy relaxing surf holiday music

To goth to be punk and too punk to care, a brief summation of tonight Spotlight Artist of the Week. Stellar Sea is a five piece mixed bag of talents, skills, personalities and a living embodiment of the statement ‘greater than the sum of their parts’. There is a lot going on for the band right now so I grabbed onto their latest single ‘Change the Tide’ and gave it a spin. The song builds in energy all the way from start to finish, with some ethereal vocals and the punk sound we all love in a call to action on the climate change crisis we are living through. Sometimes you have to rage to get people to pay attention.

Sometimes it might feel like you’re living in the end times and the band Dirty Wasabi is inclined to agree with you. Their song ‘End Of The World’ was written as a loud and defiant protest against the seeming collapse of everything around us and asks the question of what kind of future are we leaving for the next generation? Loud, proud and rocking they say this is the best song no one will ever listen too, so give it a spin now.

I decided to go with something a bit less serious with tonight's Spotlight Artist Of the Week. Though it’s a little on the short side this track from Perth band Australian Critters pays homage to the most beloved treat of our childhood: the Zooper Dooper. To me this is a fun song with a catchy bridge and a tongue in cheek style of punk music that has earned this band a cult following on the Perth music scene. Sometimes we all just need something funny. That and a Zooper Dooper.

When you take three musicians from a cross section of Melbourne music scene and stick them in a band together you get tonight's spotlight artist: Porcus vs Equus. Known by their fans as PvE they have been working on a new four track EP which is set for release next year and the lead single ‘C**a Beach’ shows a slight change from some of their earlier works. This song about our current collective terror at the state of the world is full of fuzzy beats and dark humor that makes it a stand out for the band and will likely end up as a crowd favorite.

Sanny Veloo has been on hiatus for a little while now but he is back with his debut solo album and tonight’s Spotlight Artist track will be its lead single: ‘I’ve Got You My Friend’. This song caught my attention from the first few notes with Sanny’s trademark Indie/Rock sound that builds to an emotional blend of grit, determination and the wish that we can all start to see the beauty in the chaos around us.
