In recent years, there have been concerned observations that kids would rather engage with a phone or tablet, than in the outdoors. If only you could combine both together somehow…
It is here that Page 2’s latest Augmented Reality project brings us, the new BPS AR Garden Adventure app, taking school students on an Augmented Reality learning journey while getting them back into the natural environment.
A collaboration between Skillset Landworks and Page 2, the project included design and construction of a physical garden, within the grounds of Bathurst Public School, integrated with an Augmented Reality app (deployed on school iPads) with a series of engaging quests throughout the garden.
The quests are themed around ecology, sustainability, and indigenous culture, all physically featured throughout the garden.
While on the Augmented Reality quests, students will unlock portals, chase flying tokens, collect items and answer questions relating to what they have collected. After completing a quest, special rewards are unlocked in the form of a variety of AR mini games including playing with a koala or testing their skills at throwing a boomerang.
