Southeast Storm Media

Southeast Storm Media Severe Thunderstorm & Weather Photography Southeast Storm Media is a page dedicated to photographing and documenting severe weather, primarily thunderstorms.

All footage posted here will be my own. Live storm chase streams will also be done here and on the page. Most storm chases will be happening in Southeast Queensland, where I live. However, if I believe the conditions are good enough for severe storms, I may travel further to areas such as the Darling Downs, North Coast or NENSW. I currently roll with a Canon 1500D.

While most thunderstorms are fairly ordinary and short-lived, occasionally we get thunderstorms that are powerful enough to cause significant damage.

These are called 'severe' thunderstorms. They can produce large hail, damaging winds & heavy rainfall that can lead to flash flooding.

I haven't really noticed anyone mention tomorrow, including the BoM, so take this as just a little heads up you might get to hear a few rumbles tomorrow afternoon!

Some thunderstorm activity is possible tomorrow in Queensland from Gympie up to Mackay, and also out west around Emerald ⚡️

Some storms may become severe for damaging winds and heavy rain, also a marginal risk of some hail in the odd cell or two as well.

After tomorrow expect a break from rain for a little while and some warm spring weather 😎🌾🌤

Did you know? 🌪

On average Australia experiences around 30 to 80 tornadoes a year? Many can go unreported as some occur in sparsely populated areas.

The English word tornado comes from the Spanish word tronada (meaning “thunderstorm”), and the word tornar (“to turn, to twist”), which fits the rotating nature of tornadoes.
