Tyra Spring is our Rookie Barrel Racing Champion and Rookie Cowgirl of the Year for 2025!

Tyra went into her gritty, humbling and unforgettable Rookie season with a plan to win the Rookie Barrel Racing title and Rookie Cowgirl of the year as well, so long as she still loved the sport. She travelled the country with three horses to rodeo, winning her first breakaway roping along the way to achieving her goals. The most rewarding part of Tyra’s Rookie season was that she secured the Rookie Cowgirl of the year and Rookie Barrel Racing titles she was aiming for while meeting new people and seeing new places.

Tyra thanks the people who supported her Rookie season success. Her parents “for always supporting me in every crazy decision I make,”. As well as the Ayers family who gave her Mick to rope off all year, and Lee and Cherie, who didn’t know her but took Tyra and her three horses in. The advice Tyra has for future Rookies, is to “take extra care of your horses. Feed them right, warm them up properly, cool them down after and stay on top of all their vet and farrier needs.”
