My largest nugget in a river sluice location. Slaty creek in creswick Victoria is a picturesque fossicking area rated 7/10. Some areas are better than others but dig down to the clay layer and you should have a good day. There is drop toilets at one of the camp grounds and free hot showers available on water street in town at the dog park. Gold can be found by all levels of prospectors and being close to Melbourne this is a must visit for anyone new to the hobby or just wants to have a go at a nice camp ground.

The richest creek I’ve ever dug. $$$ Secret revealed. Nine mile creek in yakandandah is so rich you don’t even have to test pan. The creek is loaded from one side to the other and all the way down. Camp number 5 is the big money spot and the start of the prospecting area. Anywhere downstream ie camps 1-4 is not legal. The reason it’s so rich is there is very large rocks to move. But jump in and do some hard work and you will be rewarded. If you’re new and struggling this creek will get you some gold. You can camp here for 28 days without moving and pets are allowed. Very happy to share this super rich location. North east vic is loaded with chunky gold. Don’t let anyone tell you any different.

Trunkey creek in NSW is rated 5/10 for fossicking. The gold is large and the town has $15 camping with hot showers. Or there is free camping down the road at the junction.There’s bedrock and a great little panning area. I would have rated it 8 out of 10 but there are giant hungry leeches. I steeped in and stepped out and instantly had 4 on my Gumboots. So great gold but you have been warned about the leeches. It was a little dry a couple of weeks ago when I drove through. Sofala and Ophir are not to far away and great spots to see a little bit of gold.
